“Highy recommend for a great stay !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

I've been staying in this hotel every week for the last 18 months. It's a very friendly family run hotel with exceptional service, nothing is too much trouble. The hotel is just 5 mins from the main train station and a short 10mins walk to the main high street shopping area. Being close to the Thames there are pleasant walks alongside the river. The rooms have everything you need for a short stay, including free wifi, although all rooms are double glazed if you are sensitive to traffic noise then ask for a room to the rear. Ample car parking is available which is accessed down a side street and up a very narrow entry behind the hotel. The hotel owners (Julie & Brian) do all of the cooking themselves with specials on most evenings which I would highly recommend. The breakfast has a wide variety which to choose from, with everything cooked to your individual requirements and taste.
It's nice to see a non-chain family run business which is a credit to all who work there and I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear are quieter and away from the main road.

Bit of a gamble here as I normally stay in the Crowne Plaza, but wow why didn't I stay here before ???? This almost 'boutique' hotel just exceeds customer service expectations, family run with passion and a 100% can do to satisfy attitude is just amazing. Rooms clean and functional, parking free and safe, and a great curry if you choose to dine in the restaurant.

One of the few assets Reading has to offer !

Well done and thank you ;-)

Not to be underestimated, this hotel offers all the comforts of a large chain, with triple the personality. A relaxed and clean environment, the owners could not do any more to make sure your stay is pleasure. If your passing by, or here for work, it's a true home away from home.

Also to note, welcoming to all walks of life. My partner and I had a lovely stay.

My partner and I found ourselves without access to our home due to the recent floods. We had a credit card but no photo id (or luggage). After going to the big chains in Reading town centre and being told that even though they had a vacancy they could not give us a room without photo id we walked to the Thameside. The desk clerk was extremely helpful sorting us out a room. Everything was clean and comfortable. Every request was met with a can do attitude. This hotel is a gem.

My husband and i have lived in Reading for a long time and neither of us realised there was such a lovely hotel with the best service we have had the pleasure to experience in a long time, and right on our doorstep!
We had a really nice stay in the Thameside and both felt it was well worth every penny.
The staff are lovely and we even had our bag taken to our room for us! Something even the Hilton has neglected to do!
We decided to go out for dinner and when we returned late the staff and night porter were extremely helpful in providing drinks from the bar even though it had closed.
Breakfast was lovely, a simple menu served up promptly, hot and tasty!
The room whilst not huge was beautifully decorated (as was the whole hotel) spotless and the bed was very comfortable. The room was nice and quiet too! To be honest we have not one bad word to say and will be visiting again on our next little break from being new parents!

I booked the Thameside because it was the only hotel I could find in the area that had a car park. Unable to find the entrance to the car park, I rang the hotel and was informed that the narrow alley way between two houses in an adjacent side street led to the hotel. Large vehicles would probably not be able to access the car park.

The entrance from the car park through the back of the hotel looks a bit scruffy, but the reception area is very smart. Check-in was fast and friendly. My room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated. The bathroom was slightly dated, but also very clean. Although the room was at the front of the hotel facing a main road, double glazing and blinds kept the noise to a minimum and I enjoyed a good night's sleep. Free WiFi is another benefit you won't enjoy at larger chain hotels in Reading.

Great boutique style hotel in Caversham, Reading near the river. Owners have developed the hotel significantly and added a Deli style cafe including covered pavement area. High standard of service thoughout. I suspect this hotel is a well kept secret.

Room Tip: All rooms are non smoking, with aircon and amenities, great wifi access in the hotel. Good quality m...
