“Fabulous hidden gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

From the outside you couldn't tell what a beautiful hotel this is. The service was fantastic the minute we stepped through the door. Our car was parked for us and luggage taken to the room. Beautiful furnishings and finishes throughout the hotel with no expense spared. We had welcome champagne and chocolates waiting for us. Molton and Brown toiletries to pamper ourselves with in the stunning bathroom. We had dinner and breakfast included in our overnight stay and the food was fantastic and reasonably priced. Busy in the cocktail bar as its open to non-hotel guests. Would love to stay again! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 14 - heavy curtains kept out the noise and draught from the old windows and Readin...

We stayed at the Forbury for a one night break, which was an offer on their website.
From the moment we parked, the customer service was excellent. We had cocktails in the bar, dinner, bed and breakfast.
In summary, the service was great. The rooms were large and comfortable with all of the mod-cons. The bathroom we had was massive! Lots of cocktails to choose from and the dinner and breakfast were very good.
We'd definitely go back and would be happy to recommend.

Fabulous stay at the Forbury! (despite being stuck in the lift for 15 minutes! - staff were pretty mortified this had happened). One night stay after a trip to a nearby Spa. Beautiful room with everything you would need & fabulous roomy bathroom. All pretty positive, apart from the curtains and some furniture needs updating. Excellent Customer Service throughout our stay. Breakfast was lovely with good selection of choices. I would definately stay here again and definately recommend to others. :-)

Stayed here for one night, Dinner, Bed & Breakfast. Had a "superior" room. Was a nice room, had everything you wanted and more. But room was "tired" looking, curtains frayed, paint peeling in the (gorgeous) bathroom. Although reception did say that they were aware of that and it was going to be sorted. All staff were excellent, the doorman, the waiting staff, reception and especially the lady that served us our dinner. She was marvellous. Dinner - the food was very good - didn't have to wait too long for it to arrive albeit the restaurant was busy - couldn't get anywhere near the bar as it was about 3 deep all the way around. Breakfast was lovely and again the service was excellent. I paid £234 for the room DB&B and an extra £50 on top for drinks etc. Was is a £300 evening? The jury is out on that one.. Would I go again - probably not - although not because it was bad but becuase it problaby just isn't 5* enough for someone who doesn't very often get to do this kind of thing.

Room Tip: If your purse can allow - upgrade!

We decided to stay at the Forbury just as a quick escape from London on a Saturday night. Reading is an unusual location, but the hotel looked promising. Its tucked away near a park and looks very regal from the outside. The front desk staff was very attentive and looked after us very well. We were shown to our room which had great atmosphere. Good quality linens, Nespresso coffee, and a bathroom with a walk in shower, large bathtub, fluffy towels, and good quality bath products. The lasting impression from the room was the music selection. You're given a small choice of 5 CD's that really give a relaxing ambience.
Finally, make sure you duck downstairs to the bar for fantastic cocktails. The bartenders look afteer your every need and offer some creative drinks that will make your stay complete.
Hope you enjoy as much as we did. Cheers

This is a classy hotel that was refurbished 7 years ago. All decor is in good condition and room and shower were good.

Bed was comfy and fancy TV/DVD Bang and Oulfsen system worked well. They have some CDs and DVDs in the room so you can watch if you are jet lagged

Yes - would stay again. The hotel is in town centre (opposite nice park and near station and restaurants - so you can walk everywhere :)

Overall very good. Breakfast was good too.

Stayed here on business and for a team night out. The rooms were superb and the staff in the bar and hotel reception were first class. Not the cheapest of places but just worth it. Will be going back again and again as it was perfect.
