This is a great little place with a packed schedule of gigs and events. I have been here only twice; the first time was to see a classical guitar concert which was in a small room with chairs, barely holding 60-70 people, but it did have a bar hatch serving snacks and excellent bottled beers, like West Berkshire Brewery beers, when I went there recently. Acoustics seemed good, loos were ok. Anyway the second time was to see Boot Led Zeppelin, and I wondered how they would fit in this small room, but of course there is a much larger hall deep within the centre, with a kind of 'studenty' rough and ready feel about it but with a proper stage and large bar hatch again doing great beers but in plastic glasses of course.. sound quality was surprisingly very good. From the outside you wouldn't know such a hall could fit inside what looks like a small building, so there are genuine tardis-like qualities with the venue. From the flyers outside, they host a lot of up and coming comedy acts and fringe arts events. Recommended; nice to go somewhere for a great night that's more intimate in size; the Hexagon by contrast in Reading is sometimes too big. Parking.. hmm probably not the strong point of this place, you can't really park en masse nearby, but that said the venue is only a very short walk from the Oracle car park in Reading, so no real worries there.
