“Lovely place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2013

This is a great place to stay. The hotel management and staff are excellent - very helpful, accomodating and friendly. The hotel is calm and quiet and you can be assured of a peaceful night's sleep. The rooms are well appointed, homely and comfortable. There is good parking and the bus route into town is a few yards from the front door. Couldn't be more convenient!

I have just returned having been working for two weeks in Reading. I stayed at the Beech House Hotel and found it quiet and comfortable. The room was lovely, the breakfast good and the staff friendly and helpful. There is good parking. It is about a mile out of the centre of Reading but there are three bus routes that go past the hotel so it is easy to get into the centre and walking is also possible. The Beefeater restaurant opposite the hotel is also convenient and served good food. I would certainly recommend this hotel.

This is our 4th visit to The Beech House Hotel and this time we stayed over Christmas for 5 days as my sister lives just down the road in Tilehurst and because it was Christmas with lots of family, it was easier for us to stay in the hotel and leave the house to older family. It is so convenient, located at the A4-Bath Road close to the city centre. It offers ample parking space and easy access to London and the West.

When we entered the hotel we were greeted by Ali who we didn't realise was the new owner. We asked had the hotel been sold and found out it was in 2009 which was the last time we stayed just before Mr Bissell sold it. I was a bit apprehensive but I shouldn't have worried. Ali made us very welcome and carried our bag up to the large lovely room which was at the right hand side of the hotel, no 11. We have stayed in this room before and it is so quiet and as usual it was spotless. The bathroom was again spotless and the shower is a lovely powerful one and hot!.

There is a very cosy lounge with comfortable sofas. The breakfast room was the same as we remembered it, a delightful shade of yellow and blue, very clean looking and very welcoming. There is also a room with some vending facilities for coffee, tea and water so you don't have to go up to your room every time for a cup of coffee or tea if you want to sit in the lounge. Last time we stayed it was summer and we sat in the garden and it was so convenient to nip into this room for a cup of tea or coffee and take it into the garden, not this time though as it was winter and raining!!

The room is very big with superb furniture and a very big bed. I thought there was under floor heating as the room felt warm underfoot. I was told there wasn't but the heating was great, not too hot and not too cold. I was later told that the new owners had put double glazing in which helped and had put thermostats on the radiators. Not that it has ever been cold in this hotel. On one occasion we stayed in the room at the very front and even without the double glazing were not disturbed by the very busy A4, so now with the double glazing I think you would be able to hear a pin drop.

We went down to breakfast and again it was excellent, the cooked breakfast was smashing. You could have a cooked breakfast every morning or variations on a theme, anything on toast, or fruit, yogurt, cereal, fruit juice etc. Nothing was too much trouble.

The wireless internet access was fast and faultless.

We will definitely stay in this hotel again when we visit my sister, it is a lovely cosy, spotlessly clean homely hotel.

Our teenager son and we spent 1 night in Reading and we were very pleased with this hotel. We arrived around 7 pm at the hotel. The room was spotlessly clean and large, the double bed was very comfortable. There was sufficient space for free car parking (around 10-12 cars) in the hotel premises. The free Wi Fi was also very good. The breakfast was delicious and the staffs were very polite and friendly. This hotel is not very far from the city centre. Although the hotel is situated on the main road (Bath Road), it is still pretty quiet at night and in the morning and we slept very well. We would recommend this lovely B&B to travelers who visit Reading and would stay there again in the future.

The hotel was really lovely. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, always available and willing to fulfil any request. The hotel itself felt very luxurious whilst still being comfortable and homely and was only a half hour walk from town. The lady on reception showed us to a very large room at the front of the building because we were staying for 3 nights yet gave us the option of a smaller room at the back away from the road if we preferred. We decided to stay in the larger front room which had all the facilities we could have asked for, a large comfortable bed, a good sized TV and a clean and spacious shower room. Road noise was not an issue at all.
Free wi fi was included in the price as was the breakfast which could not be faulted. The full english was comprised of good quality food and was cooked to perfection.
Directly opposite the hotel is a superb Beefeater restaurant where we enjoyed two delicious meals.
All in all the hotel is highly recommended and would be our first choice should we visit Reading again.
