“Excellent food, excellent service. Already re-booked.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2012

Friendly, relaxed atmosphere with excellent service, attentive, welcoming prompt & informed. I went with my wife & were served as diligently as a large party, with grandparents, seated nearby. N.B. They treat elderly customers like royalty! Check the menu: http://www.bartsgrill.com/barts_a_la_carte_menu.php
I had Puy Lentil Soup (really tasty but delicately seasoned), Rib-Eye Steak (honestly the best steak I've ever had. No joke, melt-in-the-mouth) & the Pear Confit (don't do fruit desserts but I so impressed by that steak I took a punt. Lovely, with killer ice cream) . My wife had the Minestrone (Fussy eater, who didn't want to share this lush meal in a bowl), Lamb Chop (Beautiful, tasty) & Rice Pudding (Crispy caramelised top, blueberry preserve, gorgeous). Best: Food, service, Bill. Least: ........er......Hostess was squeezed into too-tight clothes (yes, I'm nit-picking!!)

“Do not put this on your menu”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2012

Went to Barts and was let down by a long wiat and poor service.
45 minutes wait for mains!
atmosphere is was okay and decor was not to bad.
The whole place lacks a bit of identiy not really to sure what it is trying to be.
If htey conetrate on simple food and simple methods the whole place might improve.

“An original meal at a good price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2012

We had supper in Barts Grill last Monday evening and were very pleasantly surprised by some delicious food. The cuisine was an interesting fusion - a succulent poussin was accompanied with okra - a vegetable one normally only finds in Indian restaurants - and a subtle lemon flavoured rice. And with this we had a side order of roast vegetables, not just your ordinary potatoes and carrots but aubergine and pumpkin. The desert also looked and tasted delicious. If you like original and delicious food at a reasonable price I suggest you give Barts a try!

“Friendly attentive staff, who are working to build the restaurants reputation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 18, 2012

Our visit was for a belated Birthday celebration. It was quiet as was a Saturday lunchtime, and the staff were more than attentive. Once member of the party felt the service was slow, however, I didn't feel that. The atmosphere is pleasant, staff friendly, food a very good standard, well cooked and beautifully presented. Only disappointment was that they couldn't provide decent choices of coffee after the meal as they don't have the right equipment yet. Will recommend to friends and hope that Bart's learns and grows from all feedback. Thankyou

“Worst Restaurant I have ever been in, in Reading.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 14, 2012

Will post in a few days when I have calmed down. A Valentines night out ruined, would make Fawlty Towers seem like 5 star service. To be honest if there had been a nil star to the left of terrible that's what I would have ticked !!!!
