“Wife got a rose”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2013

Very Nice main courses, average service, but attentive. Popadoms were soft?

Would go again if friends invited, however I would rather try somewhere new.

“An Ambulance in the car park is never a good sign”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

A great location on the river by Caversham Bridge but wasted if you go at night as there is nothing to see but would no doubt be a great location for lunch in the summer.

The food portions are not that large, but are adequate especially if you make the mistake of asking for 8 papadoms. The service whilst attentive was very slow and they were obviously having difficulty in getting the food out of the kitchen. Constant apologies were put forward saying that the Tandoori Monkfish that we had ordered was the reason for the delay, similar excuse to the table next to us that the sea bream they had ordered was the cause of their long wait.

Now the truth came out that the ambulance in the car park was for their chef who was suddenly taken ill and he was obviously the only one that new how to cook fish. To their credit the food did eventually arrive as did complimentary drinks and we were in no rush as our son who had joined us with his girl friend had a few hours to spare before jetting of to the Caribbean on holiday.

Perhaps on another day things would have been better maybe even the food cooked differently and certainly served faster, but on the day only average, would describe what was an expensive meal.

“Meal for two, Monday night and chosen because of TripAdvisor”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

Selected this restaurant from the 'near me now' option on TA and because it has over 80 positive reviews. Stayed at nearby Crowne Plaza so River Spice is just across the road. Previous reviews are spot on. Lovely setting, very welcoming staff and great food. Main course £9:00, large Tiger beer £4:75. Always reassuring when other patrons are Asian and I would recommend to anyone. Restaurant has plenty of parking outside front door and overlooks Themes River. Lovely place with friendly staff.

“Good food but expensive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2013

Ate with 2 work colleagues. We asked to sit outside by the river and although they didn't initially have a table free, they magicked one up for us. The service was good, the food plentiful, but the price was expensive for what it was. The food was very tasty and well cooked, but not exceptional. We were offered a 'free' drink after the meal which was a very pleasant surprise, but considering the price, we had paid for it.
