We visited the Horse and Groom for a second time on a Sunday lunchtime. We love coming here as a treat; unfortunately we live too far away for this to be our local so only visit when we're in the area. The pub/restaurant is very cosy with a homely and family friendly atmosphere so it is always a pleasure to spend time here. The waitresses are always very friendly and attentive although the landlord leaves a bit to be desired by way of manners (says my mum) as he leant over her to give the bookings sheet to a staff member, however, he was on good behaviour last time so put this down to being busy :-) The Sunday Roasts are worth making the journey for; red cabbage, parsnips, carrots, roast potatoes, and stuffing are all served generously with either chicken, pork, beef or lamb, with a tasty gravy to finish off. Unfortunately we hadn't left room for dessert but if we had (and I've just found out from another TripAdvisor review that they do half portions) we would have been tempted by the trio of desserts or cheeseboard. We are looking forward to our next visit nearer Christmas, and to see the festive decorations and open fire! P.S. Do make sure you book well ahead to avoid disappointment.
