“comfortable Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2014

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights during march 2014 , for business meeting . All of us stayed at the hotel , so it was comfortable as there was no commute . If you love football and some matches are on this is a great place, but otherwise this is sort of away from city center or any malls or places you may visit. Rooms are very spacious and good for large family outing . Food is OK with not much choice and breakfast average.

Stayed here with the family whilst we visited Royal Windsor Horse Show. Room was very spacious, fantastic for a family. We stayed on the 3rd floor which was very quiet. The pool was great for the kids and breakfast lovely, til 10.30 too so we felt like we didn't have to rush. Would definitely stay here again next year!!

I stayed here two nights for a work conference. Rooms are large and comfortable, though felt toilet rues were of poor quality and a separate shower would be nice (at least get rid of the shower curtains).
Changing area for gym and pool is a little tired, and I felt pool area could have been cleaner. Food was nice. All in all, a nice enough if not outstanding hotel

Stayed in a large family room over the easter bank holiday weekend while passing through the area/visiting a friend.

The good bits -

The large family room is over 500sq ft. Possibly the biggest hotel room I have experienced - 2 double beds, a separate seating area, huge windows. It really did feel worth the £100 or so we paid.

There's a perfectly decent pool and spa bath with no restriction on children using them. When we visited (mid-late pm) there were only a couple of others using them. We didn't use the other health club facilities.

It was all a relatively stress free experience - easy to find and park. A fairly easy hotel to navigate around, wide corridors, open spaces, high ceilings, nicely decorated. It just felt like a pleasant 4 star hotel.

The bad bits -

Easy to find and park, but a pretty soulless out of town location, surrounded by car parks and the football stadium but not a problem for us.

Check in was a bit of a pain - my online reservation on their website was nowhere to be found (luckily I had a screen shot on my phone). It was dealt with fairly efficiently thereafter as there were plenty of rooms available but not sure what would have happened had they been full.

Finally, there was one member of staff at the restaurant who spoke to us rudely on a couple of occasions. I did note her name but can't be bothered to name and shame. I was going to give the place 3/5 on account of her unnecessary lack of courtesy but I think that would be harsh due to one 'bad apple'

So in summary -

A mainly positive experience - would certainly consider staying here again - doubt whether I would pay the typical weekday rates but the weekend rates certainly felt good value for money.

This is a really nice hotel with clean, comfortable, large rooms. Very good breakfast selection and the staff are friendly and efficient. Looks to have good conferencing facilities but did not use these. My room was first floor facing the car park and road and I did not hear any noise. Absolutely no complaints and will no doubt stay here again.

We stayed at this hotel for a weekend. The hotel was conveniently situated close to the M4 and has more than ample parking. There is also a park and ride that runs from outside the hotel which takes you into the centre of Reading, but check times on match days! The reception staff were very friendly and helpful as were the staff in the restaurant. The food was good although not exceptional but the price reflected this. There was lots of choice for breakfast and as we got there early on Saturday morning the hot food was cooked to order like the toast (a nice touch- no messing about with machines that do not toast adequately). Tea and coffee was also brought to the table. The room was very clean and spacious and the bed very comfortable. If I was visiting Reading again I would definitely book this hotel.

We stayed overnight to watch the rugby the hotel is right along side the stadium so park the car and forget it for the rest of the day, perfect! rooms good size comfy beds very clean we were advised to book the restaurant but did not. (we not sure how the day would pan out) Anyway 9.00 pm we bowled up quite merry (Bath won!) to the packed restaurant, very polite staff squeezed us in and fed us quickly. The staff overall were very good and the hotel spotless would definitely stay again.
