“Good budget meals.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2014

I chose to visit this pub principally because it has an entry in this year's Good Beer Guide.
This is a nice pub. It's quite small inside and it is on a busy main road, but it does have a large garden by the small river.
The menu is a bit basic. The food, however, is perfectly adequate and relatively cheap.
The staff were very welcoming and the service was fine.

Decent ale - I had a nice Dark Mild.

“Good food, Good atmosphere, friendly staff and very dog friendly”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2014

We eat out here very often and always have the same friendly welcome by the Landlord, Landlady and all the staff.......and the same welcome is extended to our dog, who is usually greeted with a biscuit.
The food is always lovely and very reasonably priced. Would really recommend it if you are looking for good food and a lovely atmosphere to have a drink and take your dog along, especially lovely on a nice day if you want to sit by the river.

“Best Yorkshire puddings!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2014 via mobile

Just popped in for Sunday lunch. Quite busy, but we managed to get a table. People were sat outside in the sunshine. Dog under the table next to us. Good Sunday lunch, best Yorkshire pudding I've eaten in a long while. Might pop down there again for dinner tonight as I liked the menu and the specials board. Parking was a bit of a nightmare.

“Greeted with rudeness”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2014 via mobile

Have used this pub for many years used to live in Old Woodstock (had our engagement party here in 1995) obviously it's changed hands over the years..but would appear not for the better..
Walked in yesterday lunchtime with my dog (who's trained as a pat dog for Cancer patients)but ignore the notice saying dogs are welcome..they are NOT...neither were my two kids (age.17yrs and 8yrs) or my laws...admittedly pub was busy, greeted by dismissive woman who I believe was landlady..told only seating available was two seater table..no offer to place other tables together, she didn't indicate when a larger table would be free, no attempt to intise us with a menu to return later or suggestion that we have a drink and wait..weather was dry/mild, garden was available with seating..but no offer to light patio heater..just down right rude, arrogant and unwelcoming...VERY disappointing that such a quaint country pub has fallen into the hands of an ignoramus like this!

“Great family menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

I've been here a few times with my wife, we have always been impressed with the food and the service, we just took the kids during half term and find it was just as good for them to! The take away menu is a great idea to!
