I have just come back from a stag do in Oxford. We stayed at this B&B for 2 nights and it was OK.
The other reviews are right: The rooms are very basic and the carpets are extremely dated. However, the accomodation was only £37 per night and we were about a 5 minute walk from the very centre of Oxford. I had tea/coffee making facilities, TV with a good reception, a full english breakfast at 8:50 each morning and the english lady running the place was very pleasant!
This is not a place to go as a couple for a romantic get away as you will be very dissapointed. However, if you just want something a little better than a youth hostel, this is the place. It even has a free patreons car park round the back (10 spaces - first come first served). I would recomend it to you as long as you have read my reasoning above.

Stayed there in july 2007 and booked the family room for 4 people.the decor was dated and the tv in the room did not work..the room was clean and tidy and the food was good ..the staf fsemed friendly enough

We spent a couple of nights here when visiting Oxford. The best things about the guesthouse are the ease of access to the town (10-15 minute walk) and the fact that there is a car park. Car parking in Oxford is a nightmare. The "Head of the River" pub on the way into town is about a 5 minute walk and a nice place to spend the evening having a drink and a meal. There are large umbrellas and patio heaters outside by the river. The Sportsview is run by an Asian couple (Mr. & Mrs. Saini) who were pleasant and friendly. We found all the rules stuck up in reception a bit offputting but I guess they were there due to bad experiences with certain guests behaving badly in the past. Though the hotel website claims that the place has been recently refurbished we found the decor very old fashioned. The carpets in particular reminded me of my gran's house forty years ago! I think though perhaps I have been spoiled by some of the wonderful boutique hotels I have stayed in recently and this is after all just an old style B&B so I should not be too critical. I would certainly recommend a rear facing room as these are much quieter than those at the front. We experienced no noise at all during the night. Breakfast was OK but nothing special. For a couple of nights our overall experience was fine just do not expect too much in the way of luxury.

Just got back from a stay in Oxford. We stayed at the Sportsview Guesthouse. It is located really close to the city centre. The service we received was very good. The room had been recently decoarted to a high standard and was ensuite.
We had lots of choice for breakfast and could hardly move we were that full!
If you are looking for a place to stay in Oxford, you cant go wrong at the Sportsview.
