Description: In 2013 the Seven Stars was bought by the local community who afforded the opportunity of running their pub to a local tenant. The pub is set in the stunning village of Marsh Baldon, which is just off the A4074 by Nuneham Courtenay and just 3 miles from Oxford. The pub is set up to serve good British pub food from open until 9pm every day and is a central part of the bustling local community. With a great garden and set right next to the largest village green in Europe the outside area is ideal for walkers and is also dog friendly. The local area also includes the Harcourt Arboretum for all those loving their outdoor walks. As part of their plan for the pub the local community has also invested in the conversion of existing buildings to make an additional restaurant space. This is due to open in November 2013. With views south over the countryside it is set to be a truly exciting project. We look forward to welcoming you to our pub soon.

“Excellent in every department!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

We always read reviews before going somewhere but this is the first time we have actually submitted a review. We went with a group of friends which included children and we were all really impressed. From the moment you walked inside the front door you were made to feel welcome, the decor is lovely, food and service were excellent. Would recommend to anyone for lovely surroundings, atmosphere, service and great home cooked food. Plus we didn't realise until today that it's also a pub rescued by the local community, great job we will definitely all be back!

“Absolutely superb in every way!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2013

We met friends here at 10.30a.m on a Saturday morning for brunch and only left just before 2p.m due to long journeys home!
Four full English, copious tea and coffee and a sneaky pre midday sample of the excellent ales and cider. Staff were wonderful, great atmosphere, warming roaring fire, lovely food and drinks.
Loads of space and lovely new dining area out the back.
Full of rustic charm and one of a rare breed of genuinely good pubs. This is a gem, we loved the story of community ownership and will definitely go back.
A brilliant morning, thank you Seven Stars!

“Excellent Boxing Day with Friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2013

I reserved a table at The Seven Stars for a Boxing day lunch after a walk through the beautiful village & Oxfordshire countryside with the family.
I ordered the Braised Steak Bourguignon. It was fantastique! Formidable en fait!!
Lovely food. My family and friends thoroughly enjoyed their sausage & mash, bubble & squeak, burger and mushroom soup. Washed down with a lovely La Calzada Rioja.
The landlord & staff are great too. Very kind and helpful.
It's how a pub in 2014 should be :-)

Hi Andrew
Glad we helped with your post Christmas blues on Boxing Day. The area is great for walks and we certainly fed a few hungry walkers over the Christmas period!
Look forward to seeing you at the Stars again soon.

“Excellent food in a relaxed atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

We had heard that the Seven Stars had been bought by the local community of Marsh Baldon fairly recently. Therefore we were keen to try the revamped public house. We had Sunday lunch there and were very pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food, the attention given to us by the staff and the relaxed atmosphere there. Seven Stars is on the edge of the village green and is in an ideal area for walkers. We were happy to see a sign outside the pub saying 'Wellies And Dogs Welcome'! It is possible to book via the telephone (01865 343337) or by e-mail: info@sevenstarsonthegreen.co.uk. I heartily recommend This Pub/Restaurant!
There is most probably outside seating during the summer.

Hi Bradley
Good to hear you enjoyed the Sunday lunch you had with us. I have passed on your good comments to the kitchen team.
The pub is certainly well located on the edge of the village green and when summer comes round please come and try our lovely garden too.
Take Care

Matt
