Was staying here on business and not that bothered. Pleasant looking outside with ageing décor inside. Staff reasonably friendly. Bed was soft and furniture was old and cheap! Couldn't sit on both chairs in room for long. Breakfast was fine with good service despite being busy. Overall OK. A pleasant 20 minute walk form centre of Oxford.

Have enjoyed a fabulous weekend at Oxford spires. Not sure of overall cost for the weekend as we had a hen weekend package - but what we paid for the whole weekend included 2 nights in this very comfortable hotel with breakfast, and dinner on Friday evening. The food was excellent - I had mushrooms to start which were really good, followed by monkfish tail and whole prawns. I wouldn't normally order fish but this looked good on the varied menu, and I wasn't disappointed. Dessert was also good but I can't remember what it was! Which brings me to the wine......! A good wine list, but as often the case in hotels pretty pricey. We stuck with Marlborough sauvingnon, almost £30 a bottle but it was nice. The staff were very friendly and helpful - fast and efficient service in the restaurant and had no problem on Saturday night when a dozen if us stayed in the bar chatting until 5am!!
Would be happy to return to this hotel again for either a weekend with my husband or a group do. I didn't try the spa, but have it on good authority from someone who was more energetic that it was fine!

The hotel is well sited. I5 min walk to the centre straight along the road or, more pleasantly, along the Thames path which runs behind the hotel. Frequent buses to the centre run from the road just outside the hotel.

The hotel is surrounded by a pleasant grassed area and is set back from the road so it's lovely and peaceful for such a central location. There is ample free parking - a real plus for Oxford.

We didn't use any of the hotel facilities but there is a pool, sauna and steam room as well as a reasonable gym.

We didn't have the hotel breakfast as it seemed pricey and had had mixed reviews from others.

Our room was larger than average for a city hotel and included a sofa as well as two desks with chairs. It was well equipped. Generous supplies of tea, coffee and biscuits; safe; iron and board; hair dryer ; toiletries were all included.

The public areas of the hotel looked well kept.

The room prices are quite high but Oxford prices generally seem close to London rates.

We would definitely return and can recommend this hotel.

Stayed here for a one night break, the good points:
Good first impressions, the grounds and hotel kept well, reception area very welcoming and lovely staff on the reception, quick check in and very informative, asked us if we required a table booked for an evening meal and also as we had not pre booked breakfast it was explained that this was ok and we could still go to the restaurant the next morning.
The bar staff were friendly and helpful (this was our first stop after a long car journey!) And the bar area was a welcome break to relax. The best part though was the breakfast, we were seated immediately and for £9.95 each this was by far the best hotel breakfast we have had, it was a buffet style and you can help yourself to as much as you wanted, usually for that price all you will get is a poor standard 'full English' but the quality of the food was brilliant. If a full cooked breakfast isn't your thing (although just try this one you may well change your mind) there were plenty of pastries, bread, fresh fruit, yougurt and cereal you will not go hungry!

Now the not so good points:
Well I think though this is just the 'luck of the draw' our room was over by where the bins were and also by the delivery area, this meant we were disturbed on a constant basis really during the night so never got a decent sleep from the clattering of the lorries unloading to the bin lorry who seemed to take an age to reverse as the alarm bleep and the automated 'this vehicle is reversing' went on for ever! But then just as we had finally got some quiet we were awoken by a 'knock knock' at the door.... Hello housekeeping! Do you need housekeeping? Excuse me but no I flaming well don't at 8:45am when we were checking out at 11am! what on earth was that about?
The room was basic and clean but definitely in need of a new bed and pillows (have slept on better, comfier beds at the premier inn)

We stayed in this hotel in January for 3 nights with our 7 month old baby. We took advantage of a special winter break offer which included breakfast and a 3 course meal every night. This proved to be excellent value for money as the food was delicious. We especially liked the cooked and continental buffet breakfast, we definitely put on a few pounds during this holiday! The room was a standard hotel room, comfortable and clean. There is a great little lounge area with a bar which is nice to relax in after a walk into Oxford. The location was great being just a short walk into Oxford. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend to family and friends.

Room Tip: Look out for the special offers on the website.

Within easy walking distance to the centre of Oxford the Oxford Spires is set in well kept gardens with plenty of car parking spaces.
We received a warm welcome on arrival and our room was functional but not exciting! The room was clean and tidy and suitable for a short break or business trip. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good with plenty of choices to suit all. Dinner however was disappointing with limited choices and average service.
I would stay at this hotel again, for short breaks in this area, as the hotel is well situated for easy access to Oxford and the surrounding country side. Facilities at the hotel are good and would suit families with children.

Room Tip: Standard rooms are of a good quality.

big rooms, comfy beds, with the best pillows in existence (although the bedding sheets felt WEIRD), aside from that -literally the best nights sleep in aaaages. had a massage which was lovely. nice staff. food was perfect to say the least. the decor is kinda old looking so that needs changing - especially in the hallways. ordered room service and it took 45 minutes :(
