“I live here...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Almost a Cotswold Village tucked away within the city limits.
The 12thc Norman Church of St Mary's is a real treasure.

“A rustic retreat near the river”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

Iffley is a peaceful village near the Thames with a well made up path leading from it along the river and into wide open stretches where dogs and children can run around. The village itself is full of architecturally interesting houses and a gem of a pub, The Prince of Wales. Don't be put off by the outside as it looks quite unprepossessing. However, what it is is unpretentious, welcoming and offering Wadworth's ale and a wide range of excellent food, promptly served. Each of my group had a different main course and we were all equally impressed. I would go back again just for the cakes for sale at the bar & I don't normally have a sweet tooth! Plus, the landlord is both people & dog-friendly.

“A lovely walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Less than one hour walk from the center, here is a lovely and quiet walk for those who wish to avoid the Oxford city for just half a day.
Went there on a weekday, maybe it's more crowded during the week end.

“Perfect Relaxation”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 19, 2012

Why stay in Oxford when you can rest and relax in Iffley, just a short walk along the tow path or bus ride away. Places we have stayed at and recommend include Midsomer Cottage and Hawkewell House Hotel. At the end of Curch Way is a Norm Church (circa 1127), or a short stroll across the lock and along the Isis River is the Isis pub. Two other pubs are located in the Village, the Tree and the Prince of Wales (my favourite). I'm not sure which pub "gavin m" visited I would give the thumbs up to POW and the Isis for friendliness and service. We love the walk into Oxford along the tow path, but on occasions we took the bus, never having to wait more than 2 to 3 minutes. The bus travels into the centre of the city and on to the Railway Station. We also found Iffley/Oxford a great place to base ourselves for tripping into the region, and the Oxford Tube is a brilliant service into London.
