Essentially a big hill, however, the atmosphere is haunting and the views are outstanding on a clear day. Kite flying is a must, just beware the sheep!

“Well worth the walk”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2014

Lovely walk from the car park to White Horse Hill. The view is incredible - you can see for miles. Dragon Hill and Uffington Castle are also there. The walk is steep, but well worth it. Great space for kids to run about and let off steam.

“Just go there.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2014

You can only see the late Bronze Age figure of the famous Uffington White Horse either from the air or from far distant roads. But if you climb the hill, you can actually see most of it as you approach through wind blown fields of sheep & birds. And then you get to walk around it & look at it in all its pieces, and it is breathtaking. It has also been cherished for so many thousands of years that it gives off a wonderful approachable vibe that is very, very special. Below it is flat topped Dagon Hill. A short walk further up are the stunning ramparts of an Iron Age hill fort that offers incredible views of the surrounding country (including in one direction, the nuke plant, & directly opposite a huge solar array...). Inside the ramparts is great for a picnic, & bird watching. If you're feeling really hardy, walk another mile & a half to get to the Ridgeway & Wayland's Smithy, a Neolithic passage grave & long mound that sits in a grove of trees & is a stunning reminder of a past so distant we can hardly guess at it. And then, weary & thoughtful, tea or a pint at the White Horse in Woolcote at the bottom of the hill makes a great place to refresh yourself.

“Great Views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2014 via mobile

A great place for a walk around, and plenty to see in the way of ancient monuments and views. The site is also very well looked after. The White Horse itself, the castle and Weyland's Smithy make for a great circular walk from the car park using footpaths, bridleways and the Ridgeway. There's plenty of open space too, so great for kite flying, fetch with the dog and generally running around.
The recent inclement weather has left the local roads a bit worse for wear, so watch out for that.
