“Central, Convivial, Customer-Focused”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago

The Royal Oxford Hotel is an excellent choice for conference delegates, short-term tourists and visiting parents of students at Oxford University. It is extremely clean, with the fluffiest towels in England, sweet, smooth bed sheets, lots of coffee and cookies, a full (if pricey) English breakfast (presented with an Asian flair and the traditional, delicious grease), and, most impressive of all, a team of customer-focused staff who are responsive, efficient and gracious. I never mastered the hot water for the shower, which also seemed to diminish too quickly. While this hotel is not cheap, its location (across from the train station, and close to the bus station) is another big plus. I will return.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms (a bit of a climb; there is no elevator) are usually quieter than those on fl...

This hotel is very close to the station, we are fairly active and got there in 3 minutes. The rooms were clean, comfortable beds and pillows (we stayed in two different rooms) with a holiday in between. Tea, coffee, chocolate, water and fruit in the room all complimentary. Close to restaurants and bars. However for £132 per night with no breakfast its not very cheap and you would expect all the above to be included.

We recently stayed for a night. Lovely bright, clean and comfortable room with great little touches I.e. fruit, water and yes making facilities. Great location, just a short stroll from everything, absolutely no need to move the car once there which was very important to us ... Parking at Staples definitely recommended! Would say shop around for breakfast though as plenty of options nearby so £11pp quite an expensive option.

This hotel is quite pricey compared to some 3*s, but you won't find much for less in Oxford.

The staff are polite and happy to give any information required. The room we had was clean and very spacious. Comfy bed and plenty of fruit/biscuit snacks. The bathroom is clean with plenty of hot water, toiletries and towels. Although it could probably do with modernisation. The rooms also have temperature controls and good free wifi. If you are a light sleeper I would recommend asking for a back facing room as outside noise/traffic can be heard, although it didn't bother us.

We stayed for 2 nights and used the Seacourt park and ride for parking - it was reasonably priced and a short bus journey. We didn't need the car during our stay and the hotel is a 5 minute walk from the centre.

Good hotel very close to the train station. It doesn't have its own car parking but you can park in Staples car park (2 doors down) for £5 a night, which is a bargain - and very secure (they put down shutters at night so you can't leave!).
Very close to the castle, shops, bars and pubs so was perfect for our girls' night away - Dominos pizza and an off license over the road!
The room itself was better than we expected (twin) although the bathroom is a little tired, it's perfectly functional. Not enough toilet roll though! There's fruit in the room too which is a nice touch and the triple glazing makes it really quiet.
Breakfast was brilliant - lots of choice, nice waiter.
Would certainly stay here again.

I stayed at this hotel this weekend and really enjoyed my time. Its location is great- it is a stone's throw away from the station with easy access to the city centre. It was by no means a fancy place to stay, but it was comfortable with all the facilities you need- such a hairdryer, TV, kettle, towels and wifi. Staff were fairly welcoming but the walls between rooms were pretty thin, which made it quite noisy, especially with the hotel being near several clubs and bars. I'd also say it was pretty pricey, but given the prices of other hotels in the area, it was on par. Also, there was complimentary food, water, tea, coffee, biscuits etc in the rooms- which was a nice touch.

Dear Madam
Thank you for finding the time to review your stay with us and I am very happy that you have enjoyed it. In terms of the noise issue I am very sorry that you could hear the late night street noises but being located very close to the city centre means that we are in a close proximity of all the pubs, restaurants and nightclubs. The street noise can get worst during weekends with many people returning home after a night out. However, the Royal Oxford Hotel building is constructed from Temple Guiting stone which measures 30cm (12 inches) in depth what makes it very efficient in keeping the noise out and together with the double glazed windows there should be a minimum noise disruption. I can only assume that it must have been a very busy night in Oxford while you were staying at the hotel. If you are a light sleeper, I can advise to reserve a room that faces the back of the hotel, next time you come to stay with us.
Yours faithfully
Marzena James

The Royal Oxford was not fancy, but it was clean and comfortable. It was a five minute walk to the older parts of Oxford, and for that we saved hundreds of dollars on the room rate. I would stay there again.
