Spent 1 night and have to say that the staff alone give this hotel it's excellent rating. Rarely have I ever come across such helpful, charming and excellent hotel staff. Literally nothing was too much effort. They carried our bags up 2 flights of stairs for us! The rooms are comfortable with good beds and bathroom. The little extras like a bowl of fresh fruit, bottled water and lots of biscuits in case we we didn't want to eat breakfast in the resturant! showed a real desire to please. Close to everything this is an excellent well priced hotel.

This hotel has an excellent location across from the station, very helpful and friendly staff and high standard rooms. I would highly recommend this hotel. When I booked this hotel I requested a quiet room and was accommodated with an ideal room. Everything in the room was of good quality - furnishings, toiletries, fruit and bottled water. This hotel is located a short walk from all city centre sights.

Room Tip: Request a quiet room as this hotel is located on busy roads to the front of the hotel.

The Royal Oxford Hotel is just a couple of minutes on foot from the railway station and a ten minute walk into the heart of historic Oxford. The hotel is very clean and simply, but thoughtfully furnished with a generous offering of fruit, biscuits, tea, coffee and hot chocolate for guests. Fancy it is not - but very reasonably priced for a centrally located hotel in such an interesting city. The surrounding area is, however, spangled with bars and clubs. I stayed on a Saturday night; with such hot weather I wanted the window open and the street noise was raucous with music and noise from high-spirited revellers until the wee hours of morning. However, this really is my only negative comment about this pleasant hotel. Week nights would not be so noisy - and it might be worth asking for a room that does not face the street.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that does not have windows opening onto the road.

Very reasonably priced hotel. Just a few minutes walk to the centre of Oxford and the main sights. Kerb appeal doesn't inspire but don't let this put you off. Really friendly staff, very comfortable beds and superb bed linen! Nice touches such as fruit and complimentary water in the rooms. Breakfast is taken in the next door restaurant which looks unappealing, but in fact turned out to be a great breakfast, served piping hot as it is cooked to order. All in all a great central hotel which is highly recommendable. 13th/14th August 2013 A. Flintoft.

Well located midway between the railroad and bus stations. Easy walk into town to the Ashmolean Museum and Oxford Colleges. Need reservations to tour the colleges - go early in the morning or they sell out.
The hotel is average, with good beds and adequate space in the rooms. Service was good, but not very knowledgeable staff.

I stayed for one night ahead of a friend's wedding; I chose it as it's reasonably priced for Oxford and very handy for both the station and town. The staff throughout were friendly and helpful - including calling a cab and allowing me to leave my luggage there after I'd checked out.

The room was fine and had been recently refurbished. Free wifi was a real bonus. Noise levels were surprisingly low given its location, thanks to some serious double glazing.

I'd gladly stay there again.

Very handy for rail travellers and also near bus stops for all transport links. Old-fashioned hotel in many respects, clean with comfortable beds and very helpful staff. Walls rather too thin for noisy guests and no lifts but staff deliver bags promptly and cheerfully! Breakfast £11.00 each extra but also easily available in city to choice
