“Relaxing and Comfy!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights as a base for a wedding in central Oxford. The hotel was clean, comfortable, staff were friendly and all food/drink was excellent. We were on the 2nd floor and were surprised that we slept so well each night when there was a wedding reception on every night we stayed! They must have excellent sound proofing! Despite the hotel being busy, there was plenty of parking.

The pub down the road - I think it was The Prince of Wales served good lunches. They willingly catered for lunch for 25 and food was delivered promptly and was tasty and well priced. Lovely walk past the church to Iffley Lock and along the river into Oxford - a 30-40min walk.

All in all a great hotel in a lovely setting. We will deifinitely stay again when visiting Oxford.

Room Tip: Rooms on 2nd floor are quieter.

Although I have stayed here many times in the past I stayed one night recently with my wife as we were attending a function at the hotel. I have to say it has continued to improve and is certainly a good alternative to others in the Oxford area.

Room Tip: Try and get a room in the main hotel.

Spent two days at Hawkwell House. The staff were very helpful, the room and bathroom were spacious and clean, and it was close to the bus which is 2 miles from Oxford. Lovely gardens and an outdoor seating area. Our only criticism was the quality of the food. It wasn't to our liking and the presentation was poor. Nevertheless, we would recommend this hotel to anyone thinking of visiting Oxford and would stay there again ourselves.

We came to Oxford to attend a piano recital and picked the Hawkwell Hotel to stay in from the Net. We had a lovely relaxing stay. The bedroom was a good size, clean, and overlooked the lawns to the rear so was quiet. The bathroom was clean and modern. All the staff were welcoming and looked after our comfort very well. As my husband and myself love walking, it was a joy to be able to walk into Oxford along the towpath by the Thames from Iffley Lock. In fact, we were able to leave the car at the Hotel for the whole of our stay. In the evening it was a short walk to the main road and frequent buses so no worries about parking or drinking and driving. The only downside was we were only able to stay for 3 nights. We will be back next year for the Oxford concerts and will definitely stay longer. Thanks to all for a great, comfortable break.

Room Tip: The rooms to the rear overlooking the lawns are very peaceful.
