“Comfortable hotel, good central location with car parking”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2014

This hotel is very well sited, in the middle of the city, within easy walking distance of the colleges and other city attractions like bars, shops and restaurants. Behind the classic façade it is a modern, vibrant hotel with interesting artwork throughout. We stayed in a downstairs accessible room which, whilst not large, was big enough, with all the usual amenities. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in for some time. The shower room was genuinely accessible, with a level entry shower and helpful rails for the shower and toilet, without giving a clinical appearance. The Ren toiletries were nice.
The Quod Bistro is very popular with non-residents and serves a decent meal at a decent price. The cooked breakfast looked good with generous portions, but I couldn't recommend their muesli!
There is also a "library" where you can relax in a quieter environment.
The staff were professional, pleasant and helpful, and sent a complimentary half bottle of wine to our room as it was my birthday.
The hotel car park was a bonus, as parking in Oxford can be a challenge.
The Old Bank Hotel is not the cheapest, but it has a lot to offer and I hope to return there.

We stayed for a few days in a beautiful room with a view over the High Street to St Marys, All Soul's College and the Radcliffe Camera. A magical view. The rooms on the other side of the hotel have lovely views towards Merton College. The rooms are very comfortable. The hotel has a great art collection in its public areas.
QUOD Restuarant and Bar, which forms part of the hotel, is a bonus: a nice buffet breakfast, and good meals at other times.

The Old Bank is in an ideal location to walk to Oxford attractions.

Out stay was made all the more pleasurable by attentive and friendly staff.

We cannot wait to stay at The Old Bank on our next trip to Oxford. Colleagues to whom I have spoken have had a similar, delightful stay at this fine hotel.

We stayed for one night and will return. From the welcome to the farewell we were looked after. The bedding was lovely, the food good, the staff very helpful , no faults at all. Great coffee.
Negotiating Oxford to get to the car park was challenging but we rang the hotel and they guided us through.

This is the best of the three hotels that I have stayed at in Oxford.

Perfect location in the center of the city.

Very well appointed room (yes a little small but was just me). Lovely bathroom apart from the shower which had no water pressure.

My room safe was not working on check in and they immediately sent someone to fix it.

Original Stanley Spencer drawings in my room. The hotel has a catalog of their artwork which is very impressive and includes a Damien Hirst. I wandered around to look at a good selection.

Greatly enjoyed the continental breakfast I had.

We stayed for 1 night in Dec to attend a wedding. Perfect location for us as we could walk to everywhere. The car park was very secure and because it was free it meant car parking wasn't yet another additional cost on top of the room cost. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Quality toiletries and tea/coffee/biscuits etc. Our bathroom and bedroom overlooked the back courtyard and it felt luxurious staying there.

A great location in Oxford , delightful front desk staff , hard to find by car and a room really a bit small , however the manager went out of his way to respond to my comments and we will certainly visit again as great to explore Oxford from this amazing location .... Constructively service at breakfast needs improving but any manager who takes time to look into issues is a very positive factor

Room Tip: Worth taking the more expensive rooms for additional space

We stayed here for 1 night and were so impressed. If the breakfast had been better I would have given it an excellent. I felt that the poached eggs had been sitting for a while and the crispy bacon was not hot. Also the staff making up bedrooms were very loud outside the door! It was also marvellous that there was a hotel car park.

Room Tip: Ask for room at the back as I think the front could be a bit noisy
