“Best yet!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2014

Just to endorse my previous review - this is the fifth or sixth time we have been for dinner here and the food was the best so far. It will never be cheap (and I still baulk at £1.50 for a bread roll) but dinner was delicious - worked out at £30 a head for two generous courses with wine ... and bread!!

“Jewel in a country village”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

I stumbled upon this retreat by accident whilst looking for a night in my usual stop off Oxford.
The website photos give an indicator , but the experience is far in excess of what the pictures portray. The Bear has been cleverly engineered ... A beautiful mix of old meets new .
My room was spacious , spotlessly clean, generously supported with drinks & flap jack! The bathroom complete with spa bath & flat screen tv a welcoming surprise. Appreciating my room was their best room I was keen to learn about the other rooms which I am told are simply different in size, unique to their refurb , but no less inferior in standard of refurb.
The nicest bit was going to bed and feeling content in a bedroom ... Not the corporate mule hotel room . Very. Clever achievement !
I dined In the restaurant which offers a quite fancy menu which did not disappoint. Judging by the full seats around me, a popular destination to diners also.
I will be returning and recommend you stay too!

“breakfast & dinner poor”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2014

Have visited this place for both breakfast & dinner on different days - both times I felt ripped off for the standard of food presented - poor quality & tasteless & overdone - I live locally & the venue itself is lovely but I wont be eating here again.

“Lovely Country Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2014 via mobile

Stayed this weekend, set in a beautiful country village close to Oxford, this 15th century inn has be recently updated to a very high standard all bedroom tastefully decorated, including bathrobes, coffee maker, CD/Docking Station, complementary home baked flapjacks, various teas and fresh milk. Food in resturant excellent all locally sourced they make their own bread and ice cream. A fabulous Anniversary weekend, highly recommend.
