Yes, we were disappointed! Not that it was disastrous meal or even a poor set choices, but just that we expected more than something which was acceptable but nothing more. The ham hock was too cold (I expect it was just taken out of the fridge) and nowhere near the right temperature to enjoy fully; the main course was again nothing better than OK - the ravioli was little more than average and the belly pork needed cooking more slowly and for longer. The desserts were better. The high spot was the wine which was good value and the service was also good.
We have eaten at Mercure restaurants before and have usually been pleasantly surprised. Given the reviews (most of which are very positive) we were expecting a better experience than we had. That said, it must do something right as they were turning people away as it was fully booked!
