“One of the best hostel i have been in Europe”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 16, 2012

Well located, awesome staff, good services (even free towels). Terrace on the roof and cheap beer. Small cinema with free movies too.

Had a monday pasta night and wednesday free pub crawl. Was pretty cool. Only concern was there was a monster truck sleeping right above me. Fortunately they also offer free ear plugs.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 8, 2012

I read the reviews and saw the high ratings on Hostelworld but I must say I was kind of disappointed. 3 of us stayed 2 nights in a 4 bed dorm. It was clean and location was great. Close to both the train and bus station and city center. Free, very simple breakfast in the morning consisting of toast & cereal. Free Wi-Fi was great. But it was not the place to be for a good night's sleep. There's a reason why they provide free ear plugs. There's at least one nightclub next door that played music all night long, both nights we were there. Very squeaky beds. Minus for charging £1 extra for paying with card. They get charged by their bank but they shouldn't put that cost on guests. It's kind of stingy of them in my opinion. I've stayed in many other hostels who don't transfer these small fees to their guests. Would not stay there again.

The location is good, it's about 5 minutes walk to the main bus/train stations and about the same to the city centre. Cleanliness was excellent too, one of the cleanest hostels I've been to but without that sterile "hospital" feel YHAs tend to have. The beds were comfortable but a bit squeaky, not too bad though. Staff were organised and friendly but let down by the one who decided to wander in, hit the dorm light switch and begin a loud conversation with a guest! It was fairly early though, I'd just had a long coach journey! Excellent showers, the best I've seen in a hostel, no press the button every three seconds for a trickle of freezing water here, a proper power shower! I didn't try the breakfast, I've never had a breakfast in a UK hostel yet worth mentioning but some other people were saying they had a decent amount of toast. Overall I'll stay here again.

I stayed here for 3 nights and found it very good! The staff member was very friendly and helpful as I arrived and the room, bathroom, kitchen and common area was very clean. It was a bit noisy at night however ear plugs were provided. There was also secure lockers to keep belongings safe and breakfast was provided each morning. Overall it was a comfortable stay and I would recommend it to anyone looking for budget accommodation.

I stayed there because I wanted to see a friend of mine and visit this wonderful town. The place was very comfortable and I had advices when I had questions to ask to. The bed was very good despited the noise of a night club (but when you are veri tired, it doesn't matter). Moreover, the breakfast was good and the living room too. The bathrooms were good too (you don't have to share it with other people). I felt in safe and was not affraid of being stolen. It was very calm because there wasn't a lot of people. The staff was very very kind (as Chelsea). So, of I come back there, I will go to Central Backpackers once again.

Room Tip: All the rooms look good. I stayed in a room with 12 beds but there were only 3 people who stayed the...

The location is great, clean shower and bathrooms and free Internet.

The bad things : tiny lockers, just 2 showers, noisy club on the corner and they charge you 1 more pound if paying with credit card.

Cheap but needs to improve. Go somewhere else.

I stayed at the Central Backpackers in the female dorm. The dorms and beds are very comfortable and clean. The showering area is also very clean and well maintained. Central Backpackers is actually centrally located (2 mins from Gloucester Green). Its very close to all the shopping areas, colleges and restaurants.
