The restaurant from outside looks nice and is in a nice setting next to the Oxford Malmaison Hotel.
The menu was decent enough and had a good selection.
So, we walked into the restaurant and stood for a few minutes to be seated as members of staff seemed to walk around us clearing tables and serving customers. After not been acknowledged we decided to sit ourselves at a table, after 10 minutes of being in the restaurant we were finally acknowledged by a gentleman waiter who informed us there was a 30 minute wait on food which would've been fine if we'd actually been given menus and asked if we'd like a drink when we sat down.
So finally, we were given menus by a young lady waitress who was pleasant enough. But again we seemed to wait forever until we were asked if we'd like drinks and if we wanted to order.
When we got our food eventually it was pretty tasty. We had a goats cheese starter and chicken wings followed by a calzone and a slain dish. No complaints with the food whatsoever, there were plenty of it and reasonably priced.
We finished our mains and waited again for ages until our plates were cleared. Was we asked if we'd like to see a dessert menu or would we like coffee...? Nope. We had to ask again after waiting.
I then saw a waitress take the cheesecake from the fridge and from a box and stick it on the plate. Just seemed quite unprofessional to do it in view of the customers.
I'm not naive enough to think eveything is freshly prepared in the kitchen but I don't want to see it. (Silly complaint from me)
And no point through our starter or main were we asked if everything was ok and if we wanted anymore drinks.
To be honest there were three waiting staff, the restaurant was busy and they had a lot to do. The service suffered in my opinion due to lack of staff on a busy bank holiday weekend.
Again, after we ate we waited endlessly for our bill before we could leave.
Overall the food was good but the service was poor.
