“Curiousness got the better of me”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 26, 2013 via mobile

After cycling past this for more times than I care to mention . I thought I'd pop up to the well to have a look . It's quite interesting for a few mins , but don't for gods sake take a special trip !

“well well well”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 6, 2013

A very interesting place to see how deep the well was dug and why it was done so. Looks completley out of character of the village and then you understand why when reading the informative board. Well worth the detour when visiting the area.

“Quirky”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Worth a visit if you're in the vicinity. Interesting history to the well: it was commissioned by the Maharajah of Benares in the nineteenth century as a gift to Ipsden where Edward Reade was the local squire. Reade had earlier worked for the Maharajah in India and had himself sunk a well to help a community there. So the Maharajah returned the favoour.

“Not much to see - done in 5 minutes”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

It's a well in a village. Nice bit of history to read but not much to see. Don't go there especially but if you are passing through, have a look.

“A Maharajah's well in England”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

I cycle past the Maharajah's well frequently and whilst it is set in a lovely village of Stoke Row, it has very little to see other than a 100 mt lawn leading to a well. The well has a nice story as being donated to the poor in England from one of the maharajah's in India. If you have time to spare and want to visit a local pub or restaurant then this is an ideal trip for a Sunday lunch time.
