“Quite deceptive”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

Nice looking bar although quite narrow leading back to a deceptively large barn type dining room. Service was good without being over the top, menu choice good and food cooked and presented very well and all five of our meals well passed the acceptable mark. Only down side, Saturday night disco, not that it affected us in the dining room but no chance of a quiet pint at the bar after our meal, other than that, most acceptable and would call again.

“Traditional Pub Food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

They offer a reasonable selection of traditional meals. Plenty of tables so a good place to go if everywhere else is busy. Real ales served.

“Great experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

We came into a very crowded pub and expected to have a wait, it was worth it! Great food, friendly people - we thoroughly enjoyed it!

“Only good for watching the football - otherwise avoid!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

This pub is somewhat grubby, allows dogs to wander around off their leads, and most of the staff are quite rude. The only good thing about it is that it is one of only two pubs I know of in Chipping Norton that regularly show football matches. The food is not consistent - sometimes it is good, other times it is awful. There are much nicer places in close proximity to visit.

“Good food and service with an great atmosphere”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012

This is a lovely pub. It is nice change to find a pub that has genuine character and atmosphere as opposed to a caricature of a 'British' pub (typewriters hanging frm the ceiling and cheap Chinese reproductions of horse brasses on the wall), which has been so often the case during this tour to the UK. This is not a pub decked out for the tourist market; it is a pub serving local people, which is evident from the good service, good food and great atmosphere. The fact that dogs are able to join their owners in the bar area of the pub really shows that this is a pub for the local populace.

This pub offers something that cannot be cheaply imitated, which is the sense of community and friendliness of a pub that wants to attract local custom.

Go to this pub if you want to be served with good food, good staff service and have an enjoyable evening in a very nice town.
