My wife and I spent 2nd - 4th Feb 2013 (Sat-Mon) at this pub/hotel on a special offer and really enjoyed it. The place is well positioned in the very centre of the picturesque Burford village, right opposite an excellent cake shop and several other character pubs to fall into. There is a small car park at the rear. Everywhere was very clean and tidy
The manager and staff couldn't have been friendlier or more helpful. We stayed in a room at the front end of the back annex. It was warm and full of character (old and quaint, not tired) with furniture to suit, albeit a little on the small side (but then you only sleep there). It comprised a bed, 26" TV, built-in wardrobe (short of a couple of coat hangers), chest of drawers and 2 x bedside tables; sufficient storage space for a short stay but longer and space may be a bit tight. The en-suite shower room, washbasin and toilet were fine with a very effective shower and plenty of hot water once the manager got the hotel's boiler working. Complementary bathroom products, coffee, biscuits and bottled water in the room. Clean bedding, plenty of towels. All in all very cozy and comfortable.
Breakfast was excellent with cereals, fruit juice, a range of cooked (superb full English) and plenty of tea/coffee. The bar offered two real beers as well as the usual range of other drinks. We ate in the hotel restaurant the first night. Food was mainly Italian, the pizzas being pretty good value and nicely cooked.
Saturday night is quite busy and the hotel regularly lays on "live" music, of a very high standard when we were there. At the price we paid I would happily go back there.
Don't go to bed early on Saturday night as the music will disturb you, whatever room you are in.
