“Short Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

A small hotel on the high street, no car park but parking outside on the road was not a problem. A lovely bedroom with spacious ensuite roll top bath and seperate shower cubilcle, good food and polite but low key service. Many good local restaurants and pubs (we did not have dinner at the hotel) but food at breakfast was well cooked. Highly recommended, we will be back!

Room Tip: Top floor room with sloping floor and roll top bath in the en suite was great.

This hotel is perfect for couples. We stayed last night in the Sherborne suite. Four poster bed, lovely roll top bath, spacious and elegant decor.

The owner, Ian was excellent and was very friendly which I loved. And he stayed up so we could have a drink before bed.

Breakfast was really good and plenty of it too. Selection of cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, fresh orange juice and cold water with lemon and I think it was mint in there too. (Not sure but it was good) as well as the cold selection there was a choice of hot breakfasts, I opted for the Good old bacon and sausage etc. cooked exactly how I asked, and seasoned and really good quality food.

I don't think I can say what a great place this is. It has lots of character and the staff are brilliant. A must visit!

My wife and I have been staying at this small archetypical English hotel for some 10 or so years now.We always feel so much at home here.Cosy, relaxing and welcoming.
It is ideal for exploring the Cotswolds. But in itself,Burford village is charming and steeped in history. One of the most desirable places to live in the UK!
Oxford is only a 30 minute drive away,so too is Cheltenham, both great places to visit also.Handy also for Bath and Many more places.

The hotel itself is furnished in such a warm and inviting way, just as you would expect in old English villages.
Ian the proprietor, adds to the homeliness of the hotel and goes out of his way to please,as do his staff.
The breakfasts are freshly cooked to order and provide more than adequate choice.
The dining room is small but very inviting. It has numerous framed theatrical memorabilia on its walls that adds to its charm. The theatre is Ian's passion.
The food is excellent and again provides adequate choice. The home made bread is to die for.You have Zoe to thank for that!
The lounge provides yet more comfort and another place to chill and relax before and after dinner.
Altogether English!

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear. The traffic can be busy at most times.

Burford House Hotel is the perfect mix of historic building and charm with some careful refurbished rooms to suit the modern traveller. The welcome is very friendly and helpful, rooms beautifully decorated. There is a great breakfast in the morning and the restaurant serves a great dinner in the evening too. Compared to the busy tearooms on the high street the afternoon tea here is a relaxed affair and not even that expensive. The hotel's location is perfect in the center of this beautiful Cotswolds town with all the interesting small independent shops you would expect: antiques, art galleries, a great little bookshop, kitchen shops.

We have dined here once before and had a wonderful experience and this time even our previous delight was exceeded. The whole atmosphere from the moment you walk in the door is so warm and friendly. they really are pleased to see you and the lounge is such a haven of good old fashioned comfort it is hard to make your way to the small but wonderfuly presented dining room. Every aspect is of the best quality and the table settings are first class. Added to this a small but adventurous menu, using mainly local produce, combined with a fine wine list, and perfectly cooked food you will not believe the value for money, if you are within 100 miles of Burford make a detour just to eat dinner there, it is a shame we are only a few miles away or we would have an excuse to stay overnight!

What a gem of a place. Setting aside the fact that it is located in one of England's most delightful market towns, this has to be one of the best boutique hotels I have stayed in. Ian, the Proprietor and Manager, suggested a room at the back of the Hotel which had a beautiful roll top bath positioned in a very generously sized ensuite. The whole experience from booking to departure was relaxed, friendly and faultless. Breafast was amazing, so full that there was no need for lunch! Well done Ian, I am recommending your hotel to everyone and shall definately book to stay with you again.

Room Tip: Ask for the room with the sleigh bed and roll top bath at the top of the hotel.

We have stayed in other places nearby in Burford but this is the best.Proir to this we had a day visit to Burford when we were staying at nearby Oxford.Ian welcomed us like old friends over a cup of coffee. This time we stayed in the Southrop suite with our gown up son in the adjoining room. I worked so well for us all. The room was spacious and beautifully equiped with lovely finishing touches. Breakfast was truly delicious. We have never found parking a problem either on the High street or on thr side streets. There is a large free car park just past the church.
The lady who received ua and the young man at breakfst were very friendly & courteous and this must be a good reflectiopn of Ians hosting from above. We will certainly return, perhaps for Valentines day! Guy, Mary & Giles Leonard
