This is a rather lovely hotel in a very picturesque village. The food in the pub is simply exceptional. I have stayed here more than once and never been disappointed with the quality or quantity of the dishes served. So far I have not managed to try the deserts.....
The rooms are basic and clean. One recommendation though - do take some earplugs if you are on the first floor. Should you want to sleep before the bar closes they are needed and you will also have amplified noise from above you. This is due to the age of the building and wooden floors, creaking, people talking etc. thoroughly recommend the second floor for a quieter night. But this would not put me off staying here. The host is very accommodating and helpful. Free WiFi in the room if you need to check e-mails etc.
Other than that the beds are comfortable, the amenities in the room very good.
Good place to start exploring the Cotswolds and of course a fantastic place to eat.

Room Tip: second floor for noise avoidance

Stayed here as a stopover on the way to & again on the way back from a mini break in Bath.
I wish we had styled the whole week in this lovely hotel, we had a standard room on the first stay, this was lovely, warm & cosy & spotless.
We had a fantastic room with a four poster on our return trip, again warm, cosy, comfortable &full of character.
The food here is absolutely delicious & no mean portions here, everything was cooked to perfection, I couldn't decide which desert I wanted so the lovely Stuart made me a taster platter with several different deserts, yummy just doesn't cover it.
All the staff are extremely friendly & nothing is too much trouble, we only had 2 separate nights here but the lovely welcome along with the staff, the atmosphere & everything else has made me want to return for a longer stay, which we will do at the next opportunity we get.
Thank you Stuart, you made our all too short stay very memorable.

Room Tip: Just ask Stuart, he is more than helpful

A few minutes walk from the town centre. Stayed in the annex, where rooms were average and modern. Very small though. We had them put in a baby cot, and there was almost no room to move in the room! Restaurant menu seemed a bit bland, so we ended up walking to the town where there were several excellent restaurants (used Tripadvisor to find them).

we booked several rooms here for the night before my wedding and came as a mixed group of adults and teenagers. the hotel couldn't have been more helpful making sure we had the best combinations of rooms for our group and upgrading me to the four poster bed. in the afternoon when we wanted something to eat but the kitchen was closed sandwiches were provided.all in all very friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stopped here for 1 night last weekend while visiting relatives in the area. The staff were perfectly friendly, there was plentiful parking, the food at breakfast next morning was good and the place seemed at first impression to ooze old fashioned charm but we found the accomodation wanting. The stairs carpet and general corridor area was shabby with worn patches in the carpet and folding beds left against the wall, the room was cramped and hadn't been dusted, the heating couldn't be turned off despite the radiator controls being turned to zero ( the radiator was still beating out heat next to the open window next morning), there was one power socket that I could see making it difficult to change phones etc and their advertised ' all rooms boast free wifi' was non existent. All in all, it was worth far far less than the £125 changed for B&B. Overpriced, underachieved and overstated. We won't stop here again.

My partner booked the four poster room as a surprise for my birthday. (I was surprised to read a recent review knocking this room which seems rather harsh. The room was perfectly fine, the bed was really comfortable and it was spotless). We stayed midweek and the weather was like a monsoon, yet the bar was really busy - people obviously were prepared to come out in appalling weather to enjoy the atmosphere. We were given a table by the open fire - the food was incredibly good value - excellent quality and HUGE portions! Breakfast was just as generous. The staff were attentive, friendly and accommodating - when we asked for fresh milk for the room it was provided instantly. If you like your hotels cosy, unpretentious, friendly and generous, you should like this one.

Lovely hotel. We used it as a base for a family get together. Our family room was clean and tidy but a little cramped with four beds in it.
Staff were brilliant, especially the owner!!! She couldnt do enough for us!!
Avoid the front of the hotel if you can as there is a roundabout very close by. We had our windows open all night but had to shut them at 6am as there were vehicles slowing down and accelerating non stop.
You cant really hear it if the windows are shut though.
Great base camp for all the usual cotswolds attractions.
Would stay again but in a different room.
