My husband , daughter and I visited on Christmas Eve. We had looked for somewhere to spend a couple of hours away from the Christmas madness to enjoy a family meal to celebrate our wedding anniversary, and Tom Browns was a perfect choice. We had the courtesy call a few days before from the manager to double check our reservation which was handy as i kept meaning to call them to confirm ,but kept forgetting. The exterior of the building was very welcoming with the dainty fairy lights and tasteful Christmas decorations. The interior just as nice.We had booked an early table so were seated straight away. and rapidly received attention from the polite and cheerful waiting staff. We enjoyed the 3 courses from the 'early bird' menu for just under £19 each which was extremely good value and the food was excellent. As we had travelled by car (and still had Christmas prep to do when we returned home) we weren't drinking alcohol so can't comment on drink prices. Service was very smooth and the staff friendly.Set on the banks of the river at Gunthorpe, we arrived to see the road outside the restaurant closed as it was flooded due tot he river busting its bank, by the time we came out if had risen further. But it all added to the atmosphere and scenic view. It is always a risk booking somewhere new to celebrate a special occasion , but this risk paid off, we all had a great time and I am sure we will return in the near future.
