Spent one night at Colwick Hall. It is a lovely Georgian country house overlooking the racecourse. On the whole we had a pleasant experience.
Our room was situated on the second floor accessed by a grand staircase, there didn't appear to be a lift and with heavy bags was a bit of a drag. Our room was large and comfortable. It had a plasma TV, tea and coffee making facilities, a large bed and a huge bathroom. However, there was only one minute window and no aircon. The room was very hot, when we asked for a fan the hotel staff didn't seem to understand what we needed and thought we wanted the heating turned up! We appeared to be two of 8 guests staying so could not understand why we were placed on the top floor in a very hot room.
The Georgetown restaurant, serving Malaysian cuisine, was very pleasant. The food was excellent and the staff very pleasnt and helpful.
I would stay there again but would request a room on the ground or first floor.
