Location – Five-minute walk from the train station & then a further ten-minute walk to the town centre – that said walking in Nottingham outside the city centre is very much at your own risk. The hotel forms part pf a new complex of flats / shops & restaurants – Jury’s is the only business so far in operation. The actual area of the hotel is not pretty being on one of the busiest roads in the city & opposite a huge derelict building site.
Parking – Look at the web page before going – it looks a bind having to park a half mile or so form the hotel – but it works really well. The parking staff were really friendly the shuttle bus only took a few minutes to reach the hotel and my car was parked inside a massive warehouse – safer than on the road. Costs £6 a night & you must have the change – no cards accepted & the cost cannot be added to your room bill.
The building – A couple of years old – twelve or so stories – very modern & smart.
Reception & Public areas – Again very smart with the bar to the left & restaurant to the right. Comfy chairs in the reception area.
The rooms – Large & comfortable & clean with diken air-con. Old fashioned TV no DVD – but all working fine. Ask for one as high up the building as possible & to the rear otherwise the may police & ambulances passing by will keep you awake.
The bathroom – Very bland – but clean – the dreaded DOVE squashy bottles of soap above the wash hand basin and in bath right under the shower which made getting soap on your hands a bit tricky.
Food – ate in the bar area – this is for now not that pleasant as it is smokey – the food was OK and was served quickly. I have ate in the restaurant before & that I soulless so I do recommend the bar – or order from your room & collect when ready to take back to room. Breakfast was a buffet affair & not remarkable.
Staff – All very friendly
Over all – It does the job – you would not go there your holidays – but if on business it is fie. Above all the hotel feels a safe place to be. Conference facilities on the first floor are good.
Tip – Be prepared for the parking arrangements &have enough change to pay the parking bill.
