Location – Five-minute walk from the train station & then a further ten-minute walk to the town centre – that said walking in Nottingham outside the city centre is very much at your own risk. The hotel forms part pf a new complex of flats / shops & restaurants – Jury’s is the only business so far in operation. The actual area of the hotel is not pretty being on one of the busiest roads in the city & opposite a huge derelict building site.

Parking – Look at the web page before going – it looks a bind having to park a half mile or so form the hotel – but it works really well. The parking staff were really friendly the shuttle bus only took a few minutes to reach the hotel and my car was parked inside a massive warehouse – safer than on the road. Costs £6 a night & you must have the change – no cards accepted & the cost cannot be added to your room bill.

The building – A couple of years old – twelve or so stories – very modern & smart.

Reception & Public areas – Again very smart with the bar to the left & restaurant to the right. Comfy chairs in the reception area.

The rooms – Large & comfortable & clean with diken air-con. Old fashioned TV no DVD – but all working fine. Ask for one as high up the building as possible & to the rear otherwise the may police & ambulances passing by will keep you awake.

The bathroom – Very bland – but clean – the dreaded DOVE squashy bottles of soap above the wash hand basin and in bath right under the shower which made getting soap on your hands a bit tricky.

Food – ate in the bar area – this is for now not that pleasant as it is smokey – the food was OK and was served quickly. I have ate in the restaurant before & that I soulless so I do recommend the bar – or order from your room & collect when ready to take back to room. Breakfast was a buffet affair & not remarkable.

Staff – All very friendly

Over all – It does the job – you would not go there your holidays – but if on business it is fie. Above all the hotel feels a safe place to be. Conference facilities on the first floor are good.

Tip – Be prepared for the parking arrangements &have enough change to pay the parking bill.

Just got back from brilliant weekend in Nottingham and had to comment on our stay at Jurys - staff really friendly and helpful, (recommended some fab places to hang out), buffet breakfast was great, our room was clean and very comfy and the location is ideal - central but not noisy. Great value for money and would def go back.

We stayed for just one night over the weekend. Booked the hotel on thier website and asked for a double room with a extra single and got it. The room was very nice, large enough for the two of us, with a nice modern bathroom. Air conditioning unit was excellent as was the tv! The room also had a hair dryer and tea and coffee. The room cost £69 for the night and I would say this was about right. We had the buffet breakfast in the morning, which was £7 and we both thought it was very nice wih lots of choice. Only downside was the parking was not adjacent to the hotel but there is a free shuttle service so cant really complain! The parking was £10 for 24hours. All in a ll its not the cheapest stay with breakfast and parking but it is a nice hotel. Its about a 5-10 minute walk to the shops but very close to the canal which has some nice bars around it and also near to the castle.

All in all no problems.

Although our two night break was pleasant enough in terms of the room itself, we did not think we had value for money. Asked for a twin, got given a double. Went for the hot buffet breakfast the first morning and most of it was cold. On the second morning, we didn't bother and did better for full English at the nearest motorway service area. The car park is now so far away that there is a shuttle bus. On the Sunday night the driver could not be found and it turned out that he also had to monitor several other sites and had been called away to one. The bar is soulless.

Stayed overnight for the My Chemical Romance concert at the Ice Arena. Travelled by train and hotel was easily spotted from the station - turn right as you leave the station entrance and it's just at the end of the road.

Hotel was also in walking proximity to all Nottingham's attractions, whilst retaining a nice, relatively quiet, canalside location.

Rooms were spotlessly clean and had all the basics, including nice bathroom, crisp linen, comfy beds, tea/coffee making facs, and TV with limited satellite channels.

Staff were friendly and helpful at all times, especially the bartender who deserves special mention. Obviously bar prices were quite high, and bar closed at 1:30 to residents, but that was fine as it stopped too much late night/early morning noise.

Didn't eat in the hotel, but had great experience overall.
