We have been to the takeaway section of the Dalyan a couple of times, and having liked their attention to detail and flavours my boyfriend and I decided to step into the adjoining restaurant section and give it a try. The price point is a bit higher than I expected (mains roughly between £9 and £16) but the food was very tasty overall and some of the portions were generous. The chicken, pepper and aubergine was tasty and rich; the kofte (meatballs) were a very good, simple flavour, some of the best I've tasted; the patlican aubergine was full of flavour and melted in the mouth. The feta salad came in a huge portion for under £4. On the downside: When we first sat down, we were served some olives, jalapenos, bread, and a tasty dip we were offered seconds of. We very much appreciated these little extras, unexpectedly served 'to keep us busy' but realised after paying the bill that we had in fact been charged an extra £7.90 for them, which is a lot when you are on a bit of a budget: nearly the price of two mezzes, a main, or the wine we decided not to have to save money. So the nice surprise of being given free 'welcome' extras turns into annoyance at being unexpectedly charged 25% on top of the bill...which is sadly the feeling I returned home with. A shame, because we had an otherwise very good evening. My advice to the owners would be that you should be clear what you're charging for: there was no option to turn the extras down, which made us assume they were complimentary. Overall though Dalyan deserve to do well; the food is good, the owners are friendly and it is worth a visit.
