Stayed on a Saturday night in October.
The location is great (generally) and the room (we had one of the 'Studios') was quite nice, if a bit frayed round the edges.
There were two mains problems though.
Firstly, the hotel simply seems badly understaffed. The staff were all very nice, but very under pressure. As a result, mistakes and delays happen. We had to wait a while to be served at check in. We had preordered a bunch of flowers and a bottle of champagne for the room - one of the pre-set options when booking. They were not in the room and not available 'for a while'.
We went out and came back about 3 hours later and the flowers and 'fizz' were in the room. The 'fizz' delivered was a bottle of cava - half the cost of the ordered champagne which was on my bill. After trying for a few minutes to convince me that the Spanish Cava was indeed the 'French Champagne - £45' that appeared on my reservation, the mistake was quickly corrected, but it was an unecessary error in the first place.
Other little mistakes include only 1 bathrobe (why offer bathrobes but only put 1 in the room), missing tv remote control etc.
The other problem is noise. Do not stay on a weekend if you are a light sleeper. What seems like a quiet street outside is, surprisingly, something of a main thoroughfare for clubbers. The noise, including shouting and arguing partygoers goes on until 3 or 4 am and is very loud, as are the passing cars (there seems to be a particular thing for louding tooting car horns at 3am, though I did hear what I assume were the bouncers ask the person responsible to 'shut the f... up'.)
In addition, the hotel bar, directly under the rooms, is now a cocktail bar, playing very loud music and open until 12 on a weekday and 3am (!) on Fridays and Saturdays.
Fortunately, on the Saturday, we were out until nearly midnight and when we came back we had had a lovely, busy day and a couple of glasses of wine and were really tired and both slept extremely well, only woken at about 1 and again about 3 by a particular noisy confrontation outside.
Not sure many would have been so lucky.
Such a shame, because the staff were lovely and we generally quite liked the hotel, but will never stay there again and would recommend all but hard core partygoers pick a dfifferent hotel.
