“Only good thing is the price/location”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013 via mobile

We stayed in this hotel after visiting Nottingham to see a show and worked out that the price of staying here would be cheaper than a taxi.
The room was like something out of the 70's, although we had two double beds plus two bathrooms.
The cleanliness was ok, but very run down.
We returned at about 1am and there were groups of youths in the reception shouting and swearing. In the lift someone had drawn obscene graffiti on the wall!
We paid an extra £10 to sample the breakfast but it was awful! Cold and burnt bacon/eggs etc which had been lying about for hours and grubby looking plates which hadn't been washed properly! Yuk!
I certainly won't be returning to the Britannia however it is in a very central location and it is cheap.

We booked a room only (no meals) for one night and paid £36. The room itself was small but OK and looked clean. Decor throughout the hotel was a bit run down and the corridors smelt of cigarette smoke. A definite plus point is the central locaton and there is an NCP car-park right next door. Ask the staff to validate your car-park ticket just before you leave the car-park and you pay a reduced parking price. We were unlucky in that there was a party of youths running up and down the corridors in the early hours and making a racket, so we didn't sleep well. It's a risk in a cheap hotel I suppose. Worth considering though for the price, location and parking.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lift to reduce the noise of people coming and going.

We booked a night in The Britannia hotel as we had a very early Uni interview to attend , We paid £36 & for that i wasn't expecting a boutique hotel but basic cleanliness would have been a good start. The receptionist dealt with us after she finished her gossip with other staff members behind the scenes. The lifts were grubby but nothing compared to my room number that was written on in black marker pen !! Alarm bells rung ! From then we had a broken light & furniture , the bathroom was so awful my teenage daughter refused to use the shower. Oh and to get a half decent picture on our tv we had to wedge the aerial lead in position with a chair !! Nothing fancy we knew that but my god this had to be seen to be believed. I have taken my ' experience ' to customer complaints and await a response & for the breakfast that was included , we chose not to bother & just leave as early as possible. Never Again. Note that the pictures on the website for a basic twin do not resemble in any way shape or form the basic twin we had . Mis selling of the highest order !!

Room Tip: Always consult Trip Advisor first !!

booked this hotel for one night, the public areas of the Hotel felt very run down and the corridor to the room smelt of cigarette smoke, even thought they where non smoking rooms. The room itself was nice and the bed very comfortable. word of warning we were on a low floor near the main road and the noise from the pub on the corner made it difficult to sleep.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor away from the main road

Not like we were expecting the Hilton grand suite or anything (it was fairly cheap) but this hotel resembles fawlty towers.

Going into a room, we opened the door to find people already in it to our surprise so we asked to be moved.

The list of problems: no working tv (doesn't even have a plug), 2 dodgy mismatching cups and nothing else, a piece of paper for a duvet, a window that doesn't shut properly (it's February and England- freezing doesn't cover it!) not to mention the abrupt staff who's faces seem as frozen as we are.

I'm still sat in bed now unable to sleep because we are too cold.

Generally terrible - DO NOT COME HERE

Rooms were clean, but dated.
Bathroom could have been cleaner.
They kept 'groups' of people on separate floor. This was a good idea, so families on a different floor or young people who would be coming in late.
Perfect walking distance to centre and bars.
Very easy to find and drive to with sat nav, plus hotel right next door.
Ideal for a cheap weekend, just expect it to be a bed for the night and nothing more.
