While prior to visiting family in the UK we decided to do some exploration of Hadrian's Wall. Little did we know our adventure would take place during one of the wettest months in UK history. We arrived in Hexham in the midst of a deluge and a quick taxi ride took us to a delightful refuge from the rain. Our Jr. Suite overlooked a lovely park, it had a sitting room with a pull out bed a good sized bedroom and what appeared to be a freshly renovated bathroom with an ample shower and separate bath tub. The hotel was a short walking distance from the center of town. A walk which passed directly by the Abbey, a gargantuan structure which has been in place for at least 800 years. The hotel has a nice pub and warm and welcoming staff who cheerfully saw to it that we wanted for nothing. There is also a restaurant within the premises. We chose to dine at local restaurants, however rather than take advantage of this convenience. The building is understandably old but the furnishings and decor were modern clean and tidy. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone rambling along Hadrian's wall. A bus from the visitor's center will drop you at any one of many stops along this remarkable structure. I would equally enthusiastically recommend this hotel to persons who seek to travel to areas other than large cities, Hexham is a delightful place, even in the rain.

A lovely hotel situated in the pretty market town of Hexham overlooking the gardens of the 7th Century Abbey.
The building is four storeys with the reception desk, a bar and lounge on the ground floor, the Park Restaurant and the cocktail bar on the first floor. Our room was on the second floor at the front of the building with lovely views across the Abbey gardens and a side view of the Abbey itself.
This hotel offers 24 hour room service which can be either their snack menu or from the main restaurant menu and breakfast in your room if you wish. They also provide pack up picnic lunches on request which is ideal if you are out and about. Snack type meals are served in the both the bars and the Park Restaurant offers a good menu from selected fresh local produce and offers a daily changing menu.
We booked a double room and were given a suite on the second floor which was large and tastefully decorated, the bathroom was absolutely superb. The lounge was had two windows overlooking the gardens, there was a large flat screen TV offering Freeview channels, including Sky News and Sky Sports News and Teletext. There was a double wardrobe, a two seater black leather sofa which converted into a bed, a round table and a "2 drawer filing cabinet", a tub arm chair and a desk and chair. The usual amenities tray was on top of the 2 drawer cabinet and contained the usual tea, coffee sachets etc. There was a useful hotel guide on the desk and some laminates to help connect to the internet, using the phone and information on how the proprietors and staff take pride in Enviromental issues. WiFi was easy to connect to but quite slow to use. The hotel also provides an office service for guests by way of photocopying, emails, fax facilities and even the use of a laptop. These services are from 7am and 10:30pm, ideal for the business person.
The bedroom also had two windows with pleasant views. There was a large bed, a large flat screen TV, a tub chair and fitted bedside tables. The ensuite housed a large modern bath (with taps in the centre) a table top type basin, a large walk-in shower which had a brilliant Aqualisa power shower which was romotely operated from outside the shower, a large ladder towel rail and of course a loo. All mod cons and all functioned 100%.
All this sounds sounds great but why not top marks? No double glazing and insufficient window dressings is the answer.
Being on the front of the hotel means being on the road and that means traffic noise albeit there was very little after midnight but at 4:30am the road sweeper woke us up and it sounded like it was actually in our room - it was horrendous.
If only they had invested in some type of window noise reduction.
The other point was the window dressing, the windows had roman blinds but unfortunately they didn't keep out the light and again being on the front of the building meant that there were street light blaring in through the gaps.
If only they had invested in additional curtains to block the light.

Room Tip: Definately recommend booking the Beaumont Suite at the front of the building on the second floor but...

We actually spent our honeymoon night here. The staff were aware and did that little bit extra for us to make the room just that more special. We had a late breakfast and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of this country hotel.

Just wanted to say what a lovely welcome I received the other day when I arranged to meet someone at the hotel for a business meeting over a coffee. Homemade shortbread is delicious and the staff very helpful and efficient. Well done Beaumont Hotel!

Just spent one night in Beamont Hotel this weekend. We found all the staff so friendly and helpful as they were on the phone when I booked some weeks ago. The rooms are so well appointed with quality furniture and fittings, and before we left we had a truly splendid lunch in the restaurant. The whole experience in the Beamont was most enjoyable.

Room Tip: Rooms in the new annexe are very quiet There is no swimming pool or fitness centre

Having passed the Beaumont many times we recently called in for coffee having usually gone to the County hotel. There was a sign saying no lunches or bar snacks due to a function my husband popped in and asked if we could have coffee, and the gentleman said yes of course please come in. We ordered 3 lattes when the arrived in glasses they were less than half full of coffee and the rest froth. I accept some froth. When my husband asked if they could be filled up he was advised they were always served like that, but we were told they would be sorted. Then horror of horrors the lady said "we shouldnt be serving coffees anyway" in a really offhand tone. To which we took our leave and left very embarrassed
