4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013 via mobile

We arrived earlier than planned, but were made welcome in a warm way.
Our room has all that we need, and is very clean and comfortable.
The breakfast menu is extensive, the food is fresh, and the service excellent.

Had room in the annex for our annual 3 night stay for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone.
The annex rooms are always nice and cool, being shaded and on the ground floor.
As ever the hotel spotlessly clean.
Breakfast start time on race day moved earlier to 7am to accommodate anyone wanting an early dart to the circuit.
Warm welcome by the owner as on 7 previous occasions.
For a base to visit Silverstone or indeed the Northamptonshire area this is a super place to stay.

Room Tip: Annex rooms are cooler if you visit in warm weather.

Although it had been about 7 years since my parents stayed here on another trip to England, Diana found all my father's information on the computer system and check-in was very easy when I returned with him for a one night stay. Our room in the back "modern" wing was huge (by English standards) and we were pleased not to have to haul our suitcases up any stairs. The room was clean and had lots of nice amenities including lots of electrical outlets, a large shower, a hair dryer, snacks, etc. We enjoyed a leisurely supper of tasty Indian entrees with sherry beforehand and wine during and breakfast the next morning was lovely too. Overall, a great value for the price with welcoming hosts too.

Just back from a one nights stay for an old friends wedding - just by the church so an ideal location. Breakfast was great - all in all great - and great value! Nothing was too much trouble - very relaxed. Suited us all just fine!

We booked into our accommodation before travelling to watch Northampton Saints v London Irish (Rugby Union, ground approximately 45 minutes drive).
Our repeat booking included a request for a room in the separate block at the rear of the hotel, but we have stayed in the main hotel, room still comfortable).

On Sunday, following a hearty, yet healthy breakfast (plenty of choice) we went to watch horse racing.
The Telegraph and Artichoke (2 pubs that have good menus) do not serve food on Sunday evenings so the people at the Poplars made another helpful gesture in providing dishes not on their usual evening list.
Another good breakfast then we returned to Cheshire after walking around Sywell Reservoir (other trips have taken us to Pitsford Reservoir)-lovely walk but take suitable footwear (some parts of the pathways were very muddy).

We stayed here for 1 night in a family room with our very young daughter. The room was extremely spacious, clean, well thought out and had all the furniture and fittings you could want. The hospitality tray was well stocked even offering decaff coffee which I usually have to ask for. They provided a travel cot and bedding which eased our car load. There was no bath only an extremely tiny shower cubicle in a dated bathroom, however it was spotless and as we were only there the 1 night it didn't affect our stay. The downside was that it was based up on the very top floor so quite hard going trying to carry the car seat and remain balanced on the stairs. Also there is a sliding fire door just along the corridor which woke us several times in the night as other occupants allowed it to bang shut.
The breakfast offered a good selection of cereal, 3 bowls of fruit, yogurts and muffins plus a full cooked breakfast. I can't say it was the best cooked breakfast we've ever eaten but it wasn't greasy and there was a good choice of items.
The owners really make this place, warm and friendly throughout our stay, they make you feel relaxed and at home. We would stay here again.

An lovely little hotel which offers excellent service with comfortable accommodation. The full English breakfast was included - a great start to the day. The room was warm, comfortable and very well equipped although there were a few squeaky floorboards above - but not enough to disturb a good nights sleep! Would recommend this hotel to anyone.
