Hotel located just off M1. Rooms are quiet and clean. The pool, sauna and gym facilities are good. Car parking costs extra. The in room dining experience is average. The breakfast is excellent though.

I did not particularly want to put in a review but it wouldn't let me out of the page unless i did!! The room rate was reasonable but the price for drinks at the bar were way over the top. Added to that the actual drinks pulled from the pumps were disgusting. Its as if they had been lying in the pumps for days. We had then to opt for bottled beer which was even more expensive. To add to our disappointment the restaurant wasn't open for evening meals All in all not the best hotel experience i have had in this country

Fourteen of us stayed at the Hilton for this event, our first at this venue, and we were not disappointed.
The food was excellent and plenty of it.
The service was first class, well done to all the young staff who were polite, helpful and friendly
The food arrived in good time and was hot, a challenge when 250 people have to be catered for.

We had requested a table for us all to sit at and despite the norm being round tables of 12 this was done.
Three of our party had food allergies - these too were dealt with. Many thanks to Kim who had taken note of our needs previously and met them efficiently without any fuss.

We arrived at the point when the afternoon teas had disappeared but very soon cakes were replenished. We did not expect to get "tea at the Ritz " and what we had was quite acceptable.
The champagne self -service reception was a bit of a let down. Its inevitable that those who get in early will take advantage of a second drink - thus depriving latecomers..Perhaps the method used by other venues we have been at whereby a member of staff is charged with taking a bottle around the guests to offer replenishments would help solve this.

The entertainment seemed to be designed to suit a particular set of dancers who enjoyed showing us their skills. However it could have been more varied and longer duration allowing more to take part.

No one who stayed the night could have been unimpressed by the large and comfortable rooms with their large and comfortable beds. A delightful experience.
Brunch next day was all that you would expect of a quality hotel, plenty of choice, food regularly refreshed. Could not fault it.
A memorable evening which our guests, some who had travelled far, were unanimous in their
praise.

Last year (2012) was excellent, had a really nice time. On arrival enjoyed sandwiches, warm sausage rolls and scones with cream and jam. The staff were excellent well organised and we enjoyed it so much booked again this year (2013), big mistake! We arrived at 3:15pm, the last few fruit tarts were disappearing on some ones plate and all that was left was warm tea-cakes with cream and jam. Obviously they received a number of complaints and came out with some muffins, but they were gone in minutes. We were expecting the same as last year. Room was very good (247) very spacious bathroom and shower excellent. At 7:15pm went to champagne reception all the champagne had gone complained to reception plus assistant manager and events manager but to no avail and gave up and went into dinner. lots of people in the same boat but did see some come into dinner with glasses of champagne so management did act eventually. Was informed put out 300 glasses of champagne with only 240 guests. last year we were served the champagne, this year it was a free for all. Dinner was okay, must say the staff were good and very courteous . The cabaret was advertised as a Robbie Williams tribute act, but it was just a guy singing swing music and not for very long. Last year it was a tribute to Elvis and Neil Diamond with a long session. I don't drink much but enjoy a couple of glasses Bacardi and coke but alas no Bacardi had Havana rum and was informed this is the same but this was not something I wanted or enjoyed so consequently no drink for me on the night. They also messed up the charity raffle they decided that no one had claimed the prize in 3 to 4 minutes so they drew it again. but the guy who had won the first draw was out of the room so was arguing with the assistant manager for about 30 minutes first was told nothing he could do but eventually relented and gave him his prize what a shambles. I must say new years day breakfast excellent the young lady that greeted us was very organised it seemed most of the guests came to breakfast at the same time but we were asked to sit in the reception for a few minutes. True to her word 2 minutes later we were seated she was not ruffled at all and organised and coped very well unfortunately I didn't get her name but she was a star. I am sorry to say it seemed to me this year it was done on the cheap with very little organisation from management which is a shame because their people worked hard and were very polite.

Room Tip: only slept in two rooms but both were excellent.

Poor Party Reception
Poor Main Meal
Poor Background music for the evening
Terribly Expensive Bar
Terribly Expensive bog standard Pre Ordered Wine

Having been to the Hilton for the New Years party the previous two years we were looking forward to this outing that had previously been a hit hence our (4 of us) return for another year.

The News Years reception Pre Dinner drinks from 7.30 was very badly organised & was a bad start to the night.
When we got there at 7.35 there were No drinks or glasses left on the abandoned table and no staff to provide assistance & some 30 - 50 other guests queuing/waiting for their pre dinner drinks.

After a further 5 mins I went to Reception to complain & was told 'they had run out of champagne flute glasses & Catering & Beverage were trying to fix'???

Well if you know you have some 500 guests for pre dinner drinks you think you would have at least 750 glasses to allow for breakages etc especially as the same glasses were going to be needed for the Midnight champagne toast.

You would also expect (as previous years) that members of staff would be there to add & fill glasses, not just pre load with glasses and leave it.
Were they short staffed or just cutting cost on glasses & champagne ?

After waiting another 10 mins with nothing arriving we went to our table, on the way past the serving doors I managed to get hold of a staff member to complain again at which point a waitress came out with a tray with 6 glasses on it for the other 30 - 50 still waiting!!

We grabbed 4 glasses & suggested they get a move on and take several more trays down the hall.

The meal (steaks) came out rare & we had as previous years pre booked & requested 4 well done steaks, not pink, red & no blood, we had to send them back twice before we even got close to a cooked steak.

One of the steaks was so ropey three quarters of it was left & when a complaint was made the Maître D said it was a Rib Eye steak, but would tell the chef.
Funny that because the set menu stated Seared Sirloin was being served hence our requests for WELL done not pink no blood & not ropey Rib Eye Steak.

Generally the party organisation was good, Let downs were the Pre drinks, Rare steaks, lack of audible music for the evening whilst eating, horrendous prices for Drinks.

Rooms were good as usual & breakfast was OK.

Unfortunately given the lack of attention to the expected & paid for detail on pre drinks & meal we wont be going next year as there was no offer of even a simple drink to make up for the two main parts of the evening that were a let down for many

I suggest they bring back whoever organised the previous reception & kitchen other wise they will be losing more trade for the New Yeas Party

Room Tip: all the rooms we have had have been OK

Located just off the motorway and in easy distance of the main Northampton routes. This is what you expect from a Hilton although the décor is a little tired. Better value than the Marriott but not as good value as the Park Inn or Ibis, in town.
