“Excellent hosts!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

Would strongly recommend - reasonably priced, clean and Charles and Jane are excellent hosts. We stayed in the annexe whilst visiting the area for a friends birthday and Charles was kind enough to pick us up from the party for a fraction of the cost of a taxi!. Jane was very helpful and prompt in answering any booking questions I had prior to staying and I would have no hesitation in recommending a stay here.

I stayed overnight at this excellent Bed and Breakfast in Northampton. The owners are very warm and friendly and made me feel welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. I slept well in a lovely room that was cosy and warm on a very cold, wet evening and the ensuite bathroom was spotless. There were extra 'niceties' like home-made biscuits, toiletries and a choice of teas on the room tray, which is not always the case in many places (a real winner for an Earl Grey lover!)! The English breakfast was superb too.

We stayed in the annex which was very spacious and comfortable and immaculately clean and tidy.
Breakfast was lovely and so was the welcome, what more does one need, PERFECT.
Thanks Charles and Jane, see you again.

I have recently returned from this wonderful B & B and really look forward to my next visit!
Jane and Charles were welcoming friendly hosts, nothing too much trouble, a real home-from-home. Everything perfect, a great choice for breakfast (even lovely fresh eggs provided by Jane's chicks), rooms warm, clean and cosy, the little touches of homemade biscuits and chocolates made my stay even more comforting. There are many places to visit within a short distance of Shepherds Row but just driving through the lovely thatched villages is a must. A definite 6 star.

Overnight stay while visiting Northampton and Oxford. Jane and Charles were charming, friendly hosts. Our room was lovely with a 6ft very comfortable bed, immaculately clean (as was the ensuite), with a great shower, soft fluffy towels, nice toiletries, plenty of selection on the tea/coffee tray (including fresh milk), homemade biscuits (mmmmm), free wifi, even little unexpected touches like cotton wool in the bathroom.
Breakfast was wonderful - sublime fresh poached eggs, home-made bread, all just delicious (and the egg cutter thingy was a highlight - we're now searching kitchen shops for a similar instrument of torture!!!). Jane and Charles were very happy to chat and provide suggestions for places to visit, and visiting here made our little trip very special - we'll very happily be back when we're in the area!

We recently spent the weekend with another couple at the Shepherds Row. We were visiting the area due to our football team playing at nearby Northampton. We really picked the Shepherds Row because of its village location and the excellent reviews on this site. To quickly summarize all the reviews are justified, Shepherds Row is a first class Guest House.
Firstly the hosts (Charles and Jane) are great hosts, very welcoming, informative and entertaining. Secondly the accommodation, the two double en suite bedrooms that we booked were perfect. The bedrooms were comfortable, clean and with a great shower. Thirdly the breakfast, again no complaints in fact full points. Cereal or fresh fruit to start with and a choice of main courses. I can strongly recommend the full breakfast, always a treat when you are away for a few days. I would also like to mention West Haddon. A lovely village, everyone we met was very friendly and entertaining.
That’s the good points and now the bad points, there are no bad points whatsoever. I can strongly recommend Shepherds Row, excellent place to spend a few days or maybe longer. We will certainly return next time our football team is playing in the area.

What a lovely place to stay!
Charles and Jane welcomed us with tea and homemade biscuits after a long journey. The room was lovely, we could have stayed all day cuddling our breakfasts...! Beautiful place to stay, we stayed here close to Kelmarsh Hall for History Live and Charles recommended places to eat which were super. We will return, many thanks to Charles and Jane, fellow am dramers!
