“A bargain break!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013

We booked this with some friends for a quick weekend away. Yes - the hotel is a bit tired and in need of some TLC but it is clean and perfectly adequate. We did not pay five star money so we did not expect a five star experience! We had room 204 - no view but spacious and quiet. The breakfasts are extremely good, dinners could have been a bit more exciting. All the staff were warm and friendly. In addition the hotel is in a very good spot for visiting other attractions. We fitted in a visit to the Raunds Music Festival, A Game and Raptor Show at Althorp plus six delightful open gardens at Great Brington. You get what you pay for and for what we paid we were all well satisfied.

Well, if I had written this on the day we arrived it would have been a terrible review but I have to say things did eventually get better.

We paid £168 for the both of us for two nights, dinner, bed and breakfast (oh and lunch) and unlimited beer and wine and soft drinks between 7.00 pm and 11.pm.

As other reviewers have said, it is in a strange location and the photos are a bit misleading. It is in a housing estate and the building is very old, unkept, in need of repair and tlc.

Our first room was awful - we were in a separate part of the hotel and it was tatty, damp, and not very nice at all. We did put in a complaint but were told there were no alternative rooms. Later on we were told that there may be one available but they wouldn't know until later. We went for a drive and when we came back we were told we could change rooms. This room was in the main building and whilst it wasn't what you would call an "executive" room it was far far better than the previous one although quite small.

Dinner and breakfast was great and we were looked after well by Danielle and staff and the barman (sorry didn't get his name). When you are sitting in the lounge area and conservatory you kind of forget you are in the middle of a housing estate with nice views over the garden.

We were woken up by staff or guests at 6.50 in the morning having a chat and a cigarette just below our room.

I don't think we would go back but it was good value for what we paid and we did enjoy ourselves in the end.

Room Tip: We had room 101 - which was okay

Thank you for putting your feed-back on facebook.
I am sorry that you were not offered a complementary upgraded room on arrival, but pleased to see that the Duty Manager acted quickly when she had a cancellation and offered you an executive room at no extra charge.
I will pass on your kind comments to the Food and Beverage team

I stayed here on the 18th of April for one night. We arrived but thought we had the wrong place as its in the middle of a housing estate. Not as advertised on the website! Thought it was supposed to be a manor.
We checked in and the girl at reception was reasonably friendly but not very helpful.
We managed to find our hostel looking 'room' after crossing the road. It was dirty and extremely dated. There were scuffs up the walls and broken tiles in the bathroom. We had no milk for tea and coffee and had to go out in the dark of night to find a member of staff to obtain some. After guessing what time checkout was, at no point were we asked how our stay was and I just wanted out of the place as soon as possible. We daren't eat any breakfast after looking at the state of the bedroom.

This is the worst place I have stayed. Would rather have stayed at a travel lodge or holiday inn, it would have been cheaper and more enjoyable. I understand why there was space here and why the rooms were discounted. The pictures on the website are very misleading. Would not recommended to my worst enemies. I work in a restaurant/hotel and this place is barely worth 2*. This insult of a stay has cos me £80. Very unhappy customer.

Thank you for posting your review on Trip advisor.
I am sorry that we fell below standard on this occasion but would like to assure you that whilst the bedrooms are dated the cleaning is now in order

The hotel was busy when we arrived because of a large wedding party however we were welcomed promptly. Our room was in the annexe and was quiet which suited us. It was very comfortable and facilities were good although the appearance is date (as another reviewer has said, we immediately thopught of an old hospitla). Also, we did not expect to find it in the middle of a housing estate!

We stayed mid-week for two nights, one of which was inclusive. We were upgraded to an executive room which in reality was what I would expect of a standard room, but I'm not complaining. It is not a new hotel or 5* but has some character and is great value. The staff were without exception pleasant and willing to serve, much better than some staff in far more expensive hotels.

We ate out of the hotel on the first night at a gastro pub which was more expensive, poorer service and less quality than the Westone Manor served. The breakfast was good with a good range of items. We had the lunch of home made soup and a selection of sandwiches which was fine for lunch. The inclusive deal include coffee and tea throughout day. The evening meal was from a reasonable menu and the quality, presentation and service was really good along with house wine included. We added a dessert which only cost £3 per person!

We will definitely stay here again. Thanks to all the staff.

Just stayed at this hotel last night - as I couldn't find anywhere else. Understand why they had a room. First appearance from outside, a run down Hospital. Was told my room was in the Annex- the place smelt of dampness throughout. Had a couple of drinks and a bar special meal of Sausage and mash- can't complain. Staff good throughout. Went to bed-tried too- "DUST MITE", couldn't sleep all night, room was more like a cell. Place needs a complete revamp. Reported my room experience to receptionist- she said she would take it up with housekeeping- no offer to offer a discount.
Yes it is cheap- and you feel cheap having stayed here- avoid

Room Tip: If there is one - I don't know, the main building rather then the Annex "maybe" better

13 April 2013

With my wife we enjoyed a Saturday and Sunday night at the Westone Manor hotel. First impression on arrival was not great. The hotel is,as others have noted, a little dated. We booked in early on the Saturday, unpacked then went to the lounge outside the restaurant mainly to be nosy. A member of staff asked if she could help, as we were all inclusive we asked for soup and sandwiches. The young lady went away and returned with a hot, tasty soup and sandwiches which we both agreed was better than we expected. If the evening meal to come was of equal quality we would be very happy to upgrade our opinion of West one. Lo and behold the evening meal along with house wine included was better again than expected. During the day coffee and tea could be drunk copiously for AI guests at no extra expense. All the food from breakfast to dinner for both days was enjoyable. The bar was free from 19:00 to 23:00 for All inclusive guests to drink beer, lager, wine and soft drinks which is great on the pocket. We forgot the first impression of Westone and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
We paid £158 for 2 days All inclusive and know that to get the above for less than £40 a day each plus room is bargain. If one looks past the dated appearance of West one this is a friendly and value for money break.
