“Short city break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 31, 2013

Excellent b&b for a short city break. Warm welcome, very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable room, huge shower and lovely big ginger cat to stroke. Superb value. Short 10 - 15 minute walk into the city (on several bus routes if even that is too far) would definitely stay here again if coming to York.

Friendly, welcoming, clean and comfortable, with a good breakfast too, St George's ticked all the important boxes for us and we'd happily stay again. Our room also had a large, modern, television and free WiFi coverage which worked well.

Located a 15-20 mins walk (or a £6 taxi ride, or a few mins on a No.4 bus) from York Railway station, and fairly close to York Racecourse. Nearest restaurants (a selection) are about 10-15 mins walk away for the evenings, as is a Sainsbury's mini-supermarket for provisions, and a small cinema.

Some aspects of our room's decor were a bit tired but this did not detract from the enjoyable stay we had here. Thank-you to all at St George's.

A great place for a cheap, relaxed weekend in York.. Only ten minutes walk into the city centre and very easy to find as it is opposite the Racecourse.

The team is very friendly with a typical dry Yorkshire sense of humour and they made us feel very welcome. Breakfast was fabulous and we chose to have it in the dining room rather than our bedroom. The hotel was fully booked when we stayed but they seemed to have time to talk to everyone and did not rush us in any way.

The room and en suite were very clean and comfortable. Considering how reasonably priced this hotel is I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was.

The resident cat Kittson is not to be missed either (although it would be hard to miss him as he's HUGE)!

A great choice for a relaxing weekend and superb value for money.

Room Tip: Room 9 was very cosy with a fire exit door which gave peace of mind as we were on the second floor.

Spent 3 nights here with another couple and cant fault it. Spotlessly clean and our small room was much bigger than the "small " rooms we have had elsewhere. It was comfortable, warm and quiet. The host was friendly and helpful and was flexible with arrival and leaving times. The breakfast is good and varied. The situation is very good and we actually walked into the city each day despite the rain! Would not hestate to recommend it and would saty here again.
