“Perfect stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2013

We booked Abbeyfields having read the reviews on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed, this really is a super place to stay. Everywhere is spotlessly clean and at night it was so peaceful, we slept like logs, a real bonus. Breakfast cannot be faulted with a wide choice to suit everyone and as others have said the bread was scrumptious and the smell of it wafting up the stairs in the morning is a great way to start the day. Les and Al are such great hosts and are ready to answer and offer suggestions on places and restaurants to visit. We would not hesitate to recommend this marvellous place and hope to be able to stay again on our next visit to York.

A friendly welcome and a great supply of useful information about attractions and eating places. Property very clean and warm (difficult to achieve in a large house of this nature). The breakfasts were first class and the home made bread each day was a real bonus. Highly recommended .
Just a minor warning the shower in "yards" is a little snug if you are over 70, overweight and over 6 feet tall - but still got a shower each day!

Room Tip: See comment about shower in Yards.

Chose here as needed 2 single rooms and neither of us was disappointed. Single rooms have all the comforts fitted into a small space. Breakfast had an extensive choice and I had to restrain myself from sampling everything on offer. Only a short walk into York for sightseeing and shopping, and easily accessible from the railway station. A delightful stay.

Fantastic 2 night stay here 27-28 Oct 2013. Clean, cosy, warm and perfectly located to walk in to town. Breakfast is superb and plenty of recommendations of places to eat in York from charming hosts. Wifi excellent if you travel with gadgets like us! All in all a perfect English B&B.

We stayed her for a wonderful York getaway weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the hospitality and the quality of our room and our breakfast. The bed was comfy, everything was very clean, and we we happy to be able to easily park our car right outside and walk comfortably into the town centre. Would recommend.

Abbeyfields is ideally situated for visiting York.It is only a short walk into the centre of town through a park or alongside the river. A warm welcome is guaranteed from Les and Al. Accommodation is excellent, clean and homely and parking is free. Breakfast is made to order and is excellent with plenty of choice and freshly baked bread. We have no hesitation in highly recommending Abbeyfields and on our next visit to York will stay there.

What a great B&B! Les and Al were great hosts and the breakfast was fantastic! Lots to choose from, and loaves of freshly baked bread. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable (we stayed in a double en-suite). The walk toward York Minster through the garden is lovely (as is all of York), and Les and Al were more than accommodating with suggestions for sights, pubs, restaurants, etc. We would definitely stay again!
