“Really slow service, mediocre food. Santa was OK.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012

We went to meet friends, were told the Cafe was table service and then it took them ages to even bring us a menu! There was one poor lad, who was obviously new, doing all the work and trying his best while two more experienced female staff stood and gossiped. With two toddlers this was not good. We had very mediocre afternoon tea, we felt the whole thing was rather expensive for the quality and we had to interrupt the staff's conversation to pay.
We then took my son to meet Santa. The reindeer were just leaving as we paid to go in, but the 'Elves' were good enough to walk them round for a while so my son could see them. The place was interesting, with lots to look at, but very cold. We got to see Santa quite quickly as it was very quiet, and there are lots of activities set up to keep children amused while they wait. The staff were very good, as was Santa, and the gifts are unwrapped so you can see exactly what you are getting and choose your own, but I felt the whole thing was possibly a bit on the expensive side, especially as its USP is the reindeer and they don't guarantee they will be present. You also get a 10% discount voucher for the cafe in the grotto, so we did it in the wrong order.

“Cafe and shop fantastic (would see Santa elsewhere..)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

We visited with my 1 year old primarily to see Santa in the Winter Wonderland. We headed into the cafe first for some lunch. Surroundings are lovely and staff were friendly. We ordered steak pie and chips, which was fantastic, and a childs sausage and mash, which he stuffed himself with! Bought a couple of bits in the farm shop too, lovely fresh produce and some nice Christmas gifts.
We were disappointed with the Winter Wonderland.. It cost us £19 for 2 adults and a child.. I think we were accidentally charged for 2 children and an adult but my husband didn't comment on the price he payed until we had left. The setup was quite cute with the moving characters and the reindeer were there which was nice. There were activities to keep the kids amused while waiting for Santa and then presents were unwrapped so that the child can choose their own. It was nice, but expensive for what it is and we wish we had headed to the Farmers Cart instead, as that was brilliant last year!
All in all, a lovely place to visit for lunch and the farm shop, but would seek Santa elsewhere!

“Food very much hit and miss”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

The food can sometimes be of very poor quality and other times ok.

Bit fed up now and will not be returning. Filthy toilets, hardly any choice on the menu.

Visit farmers cart, much better by 100x.
