We went to meet friends, were told the Cafe was table service and then it took them ages to even bring us a menu! There was one poor lad, who was obviously new, doing all the work and trying his best while two more experienced female staff stood and gossiped. With two toddlers this was not good. We had very mediocre afternoon tea, we felt the whole thing was rather expensive for the quality and we had to interrupt the staff's conversation to pay.
We then took my son to meet Santa. The reindeer were just leaving as we paid to go in, but the 'Elves' were good enough to walk them round for a while so my son could see them. The place was interesting, with lots to look at, but very cold. We got to see Santa quite quickly as it was very quiet, and there are lots of activities set up to keep children amused while they wait. The staff were very good, as was Santa, and the gifts are unwrapped so you can see exactly what you are getting and choose your own, but I felt the whole thing was possibly a bit on the expensive side, especially as its USP is the reindeer and they don't guarantee they will be present. You also get a 10% discount voucher for the cafe in the grotto, so we did it in the wrong order.
