“Very very noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Unfortunately we were in the 2000 building on the second floor.... And our room was awkwardly situated in the middle of the hallway with 4 steps down a few feet before our door and another 4 steps a few feet after our door.... We heard every guest that walked to their room when they were walking up and down those steps.... Also could hear everything from the room above... Even earplugs were not enough... In the morning i tried to ask the front desk for a new room but there was a long lineup with checkouts... So I went back around dinner time to explain our situation but was told the hotel was full so they could not move us... We had to stay in that room.
Other issue we had was that we had a room with two attached single beds to make a big king bed... It was sooooo uncomfortable! Both my husband and I woke up with backaches each morning and had awful sleep... Those mattresses are ok for kids that weigh very little perhaps.

We stayed in about 7 Different Premier Inns throughout England for this trip and this was the only time we had a bad bed and very noisy rooms since it looks like an old and cheap hotel converted..

On the positive side, the staff was pleasant, and location is great with a 2 minute walk to the train station and about 15 minute walk to downtown area.

Room Tip: Ask for room on top floor so it is quieter and away from stairs in middle of hallway

We stopped here in july, rooms have air con!.. YES! :)

Perfect location! 10 minute walk into town, 10 minutes from national train museum, it is on a very busy road but that was okay as we were at the back of the hotel, nice little pub in the middle of the hotels, room was very clean and spacey too! Although our linen was damp in our room and another 1 of the rooms we stopped in :-/ Other than that all in all very good.

A special mention to Kimberley who was spot on, knew the area well & was more than happy to provide us with a local map etc.. very friendly and polite!

The table table attached was disapointing, service was very slow, waited over an hour for starters, would eat here again!

Just outside the main city centre, only 10/15 mins walk in to town. (If you don't want to walk there is a taxi office just on the corner of the car park)Offers parking but only on a first come first serve...we were lucky! Staff friendly, you have to pop two doors down the street for breakfast no biggy but does get busy...handy hint pre pay for your breakfast or it's a bit of a hold up having to pay on the door. All in all I'd recommend this hotel and would def' stay here again!

The location of this Premier Inn was perfect for our short stay as it was just 5 minutes walk from the station and NRM, and a pleasant stroll along the city wall into the centre of York. We were lucky to be in a quiet room on the 2nd floor of Minster block overlooking the car park and a glimpse of the city wall, and with the excellent air conditioning had our best night's sleep in a week in the current hot spell! We were emailed by the Reception team a week before departure alerting us to potential parking issues, which is unusual in itself, but they didn't affect us as we deliberately chose to arrive by train for a change; in fact, the front of house team are to be commended on their 'can do' approach and their willingness to help if they can. Even the cleaning staff wished us a pleasant day as we left, suggesting a happy team. The breakfast arrangements were fine but not memorable, but overall this stay was fantastic value for money and we wouldn't hesitate to go back a second time.

Room Tip: Minster block, to the rear, is quiet, especially on the second floor, and the rooms a good size.

I stayed in this hotel for 1 night. The room was very spacious, spotlessly clean, comfy beds, and the shower/bathroom facilities excellent. The air conditioning was a blessing due to the hot weather. The location could not have been better as it was a 2 min walk to the railway station. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: The corner rooms are huge.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

Stopped one night as a family of four, including an 8 year old and a 5 year old. The room was fine, with welcomed air conditioning, especially during this warm weather. The bathroom was clean and the shower one of the most powerful I have had the pleasure of. The staff were very friendly in all correspondence prior to our stay and during it. We requested more pillows and they were delivered in 5 mins, nothing seemed too much trouble. We were out the back and the room was quiet. Unfortunately we timed our visit to York when the races were on, so the hotel was full of drunken revellers later on. We were not disturbed too much and I actually heard a member of staff politely asking some of the guest to be respectful of other guests, which they duly were. The reason for 4 stars is that whilst we paid for a family room, which had 2 additional beds added, it clearly was a standard sized room, which left us a little tight for space. That said it was only for 1 night, any longer and it would have been a little annoying. Overall would recommend young families to this hotel.

We stayed at this Premier Inn for four nights last week, having checked trip advisor beforehand, I requested a room at the rear with air con. Our room was 2208 in Minster block, was very quiet and faced the Wall, very clean and usual Premier standard equipment. Outside the entrance to this block was a seating area which was good for the smokers amongst us. It was also just around the corner from the railway station, very convenient.
