“Good option for young family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013 via mobile

Stopped one night as a family of four, including an 8 year old and a 5 year old. The room was fine, with welcomed air conditioning, especially during this warm weather. The bathroom was clean and the shower one of the most powerful I have had the pleasure of. The staff were very friendly in all correspondence prior to our stay and during it. We requested more pillows and they were delivered in 5 mins, nothing seemed too much trouble. We were out the back and the room was quiet. Unfortunately we timed our visit to York when the races were on, so the hotel was full of drunken revellers later on. We were not disturbed too much and I actually heard a member of staff politely asking some of the guest to be respectful of other guests, which they duly were. The reason for 4 stars is that whilst we paid for a family room, which had 2 additional beds added, it clearly was a standard sized room, which left us a little tight for space. That said it was only for 1 night, any longer and it would have been a little annoying. Overall would recommend young families to this hotel.

We stayed at this Premier Inn for four nights last week, having checked trip advisor beforehand, I requested a room at the rear with air con. Our room was 2208 in Minster block, was very quiet and faced the Wall, very clean and usual Premier standard equipment. Outside the entrance to this block was a seating area which was good for the smokers amongst us. It was also just around the corner from the railway station, very convenient.

This place is nasty
I felt depressed as soon as I walked into the place
It was impossible to sleep as it was so damn noisy
The bathroom was grotty and outdated and the shower begrudged squeezing a few tepid drops of water out
Thank God I shall never have any reason to go back there

Room Tip: Book a room somewhere else..?

There are two premier inns almost next to each other which seem to be totally unaware that each other exist. Although just a few metres apart The first reception we went to said "Your not booked in here" It took 3 minutes before they said oh are you booked in to the other one at the back ? Ok can we leave our vehicle in the car park. "But the sign says Premier inn directing you to the car park", "its not ours you will get clamped". So we took our vehicle (A TV Links truck) out round the block and parked in the other car park that was £8.50 !. Its very tight even if you have a small car. 4 bays are taken up by screwed down cones awaiting a non existent skip. The rooms were of the usual good standard. Can i say PLEASE stop putting your pointless notes about everything. I woke up with a notice about firm pillows stuck to my face. The Table Table restaurant must be booked and is busy. Breakfast on the Sunday was like a scene from a Zombie film as them shuffling mob of unhappy punters totally overwhelmed the inadequate facilities and overworked staff. There was little food, no mugs for tea, but the staff did try very hard there were just too few for the task. Premier Inn get a management team in ASAP and sort it out or you will be reading reviews like this all summer.

Room Tip: Away from the late Karaoke

Very nice hotel, great servive and a very quiet environment. Lots of places to eat and drink just next to the hotel. Right near the station and York centre also they take good care of luggage before you check in.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013 via mobile

Stayed 2 nights as part of a mini break. Excellent location 5 mins walk into main part of city. Check in excellent with friendly staff. £8.50 for 24 hours parking which is a bit steep considering we paid almost £170 for 2 nights accommodation. Parking is also limited but alternative available not far away. Room lovely and spacious with massive bed. Very clean and air con which worked a treat on a very warm couple of days. There was quite a big rip in the window net and around the window needed a good scrub but these were fairly minor things. Handwash and body/hair wash all available in dispensers in the bathroom which is better than a cheap bar of nasty soap. Overall it was exactly what I would expect from a premier inn. After using premier inns twice this year, I will never use travelodge again. Premier inns are well worth the little bit extra, and if you can bag a room here for £29, you have a great deal on your hands!!!
