Booked this months in advance as part of a friend's hen do. Had been in regular contact with the manager/ restaurant over menus, prices etc. Arrived and got shown upstairs, which was empty and silent. Alarm bells started to ring. It was very dark, just a few candles - apparently a problem with the electricity upstairs. We had to share menus between three of us. It was also freezing! We mentioned all of these things to the guy serving us, didn't seem overly bothered (though later did apologise). If we'd known York better, we would have left and gone elsewhere. We asked to see the manager - the guy came back and said the manager was busy in the kitchen but that her response was 'either order or go elsewhere'. So rude! Eventually we were moved downstairs, but with no apology form the manager. The guy serving us was trying to do everything, seemed like he was the only one working. The atmosphere downatairs was flat, other people eating in there also did not seem impressed. Food arrived, it was ok thankfully, though we left as quickly as possible to try to enjoy what was left of our night. Would not recommend and definately will NOT be going back.
