The hotel has a quirky old feel about it maybe a grand house in years gone by . We were upgraded after been offered a basement room wich was ok but felt cold and dugeon like . Our room which was executive had good points it was spacious and had 2 flat screen tv's but on the downside bathroom was small and dated , bed and pillows were too firm , carpet had seen better days and generally needed a deep clean and modernising .The hotel had extensive gardens with a pool and hot tub also there was a resturant and bar which we didn't use .The hotel was quite a long walk out of the city centre but quite near the race coarse .It had free parking which for York is a bonus .The breakfest was very good with a good choice of dishes .Staff were friendly and helpful which helped us enjoy our stay
