“Our trip to York minster”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

Hi! We took a mini-break by coach only 3 days Friday to Sunday. We called in on the way to Lincoln, and made it up the very Steep Hill, very interesting place. We then went onto our hotel just outside York. We went impressed by the hotel room, but we did get a nice welcome by the Manager we tea/coffee and biscuits. The room was rather on the small side, and the bed was hard, We didn't sleep the first night, but managed to get some sleep the second night. The evening meal on the Friday, well! it was just a small portion of meat with very little veg, infact the people we were sitting with, he asked if they were going to get any veg. As we were downstairs the floor-boards above us creaked so much when anyone walked on them they woke us up. Not Good. We will not be going back to that hotel, it is a shame, as the staff were nice. We did enjoy York, and on the way back we went to Castle Howard, so beautiful, and interesting.

“Join a free tour”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2014

York Minster full of beautiful medieval stained glass windows (and lots of other wonderful things as well). Join a free tour; the volunteer guides are very informative and their enthusiasm for the Minster is infectious. I loved it.

We first went one evening for evensong which was free to attend and was beautiful with a visiting choir who were amazing. Loved our visit, an amazing building with amazing history, reasonably priced. Tour guide very informative and interesting.

“Very impressive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2014

A fascinating place. We walked around at our own space. The exhibits on how to repair the East Window and its the stained glass, as well as that of the repairs of the foundations to prevent the minster from subsiding, were very instructive. Did not go up the tower stairs because they are too narrow (275 steps).
