“Extremely disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

On a day out in York, this was one of two venues we intended to visit. This was the biggest disappointment I've had in ages.
The glass covered 'dig' was poorly lit and therefore it was hard to distinguish any features plus the demonstrator was telling people it wasn't authentic.
The ride was the best part but still fairly poor. Okay, there was the odd smell here and there, but it really didn't add to the atmosphere.
When we got off the ride, we couldn't move for a party of schoolkids, which couldn't be helped but there was not enough space to comfortably move and see everything, so we ended up missing most of the exhibits at that end. It was over before we knew it and it was very disappointing especially that we paid so much. I'm glad we didnt have to queue for it!

“History brought to life”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

This is a good interactive attraction with plenty to do. There are exhibits with information about how the archaeological digs have been carried out and what has been found as well as the ride through village. The commentary on the ride and the information given about the other exhibits was very informative and there were members of staff about, in costume, who were able to provide additional information about the artefacts. The entrance ticket gives free entry for a year after your initial visit, which is really good value

“appeals to all the family”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

What a treat! Younger ones will be interested in the exciting displays, fun ride and enthusiastic staff. If you are just there for the experience, it is good. If you are there to widen your knowledge of York's past, you will not be disappointed. Don't miss.

“Viking York brought to life”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

I've been wanting to go to Jorvik for ages & I wasn't disappointed, captivating place. You don't walk around you travel in cars on a rail, the cars turn as you go past each area & the commentary is in any language you choose. The smells are also pretty realistic. Just sit back & enjoy the experience.

“Glad I finally did it”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2013

Have been into York a few times over the decades but this was first time I had succumbed to what I had suspected would be overly toursity. In fact, glad I did, it is very interesting and well presented. Prices add up for a few of you though.
