“FANTASTIC service, price and food!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 22, 2013

Stopped in the Cross Keys during a day in York after returning back from a Mini Cruise with P and O in Hull. We were there on a Sunday and the menu was limited, however, there was a good choice of food to choose from. We opted for 3 x BBQ chicken. The chips were amazing - wern't frozen chips I don't think, the chicken was very tasty and moist, the homemade BBQ sauce was very nice, decent quality cheese and bacon too. The lady that served us was very nice, pleasent and looked like she really enjoys and respects her job - she got a good tip from us :-). I would definetely recommend stopping for food in here.

“Great Sunday Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 19, 2013

We came here on the Saturday night for a drink and decided we would come back for Sunday lunch the following day as it was reasonably priced. We were expecting it to be very busy with it being St. Patrick's day; however, it was not and one of the quieter pubs in York on that day (to our advantage). The bar staff were very friendly and advised me on their current local cider that was on pump. We ordered 4 Sunday lunches (chicken, pork, beef and lamb). They looked and tasted amazing with a giant Yorkshire pudding. For dessert we ordered two chocolate Sundays, a sticky toffee pudding and a chocolate brownie all were amazing and well worth the price of around £12 each. The manager, I assume was great and kept coming back to our table to make sure everything was okay and kept asking if we needed anything else. This is what you expect from a reputable pub. Lovely, authentic décor and quite spacious with an outdoor smoking area. The only thing that let it down was the toilets as they were a bit messy. All in all I would recommend this pub for cheap and cheerful food.

Very friendly with a good atmosphere, the meals are very good, reasonably priced and you get large portions. There was an acoustic session on which we enjoyed for a change.

“Relaxing lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

Old fashioned looking pub, but with old world service.
Brought drinks to table after ordered at bar and checked on us. Had the meal deal drink and meal for £7. Good stew and mash. Also liked their 'skin on chips'. The fireplaces and large armchairs etc give the old world charm too.

“Posh - and a little slow”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

Fancy restaurant with lovely furniture and spacious seating. Took just a little too long to get my meal, a long queue was not too expediently served, and the waitress didnt find my table - although my part of the restaurant was not crowded at all, so I had to come back and order a new one... The food pulls the score back up to 4.
