Went here on a Thursday early evening with a voucher.
Suprised that place was packed and we were asked to sit in bar area and given menus.
Friendly female came over and took our drinks order, but then shown to table before arrived so she brought over to us.
Huge party of school kids in who were just leaving so after 5 mins of noise calmed down!
We had pleasant corner table - seated 8 so we had plenty of room for 4 of us.
Service bit slow to start (waiters more interested in clearing all the table, I caught attentionof one of them and we ordered.
Poppodums and pickles were good, starters chicken chatt, shish kebabs were good, if little bland and mains inc. chicken chill balti, chicken balti, chicken koria were pretty good but could have done with bit more meat and less sauce.Rice and nans fine. Finsihed off with 4 coffees.
We had a good night and spent 3 hours there eating and catching up with friends.
Service was slow and all waiters bit lacking in charisma, charm, friendliness ....,except the woman who ran bar who was good and efficient.
Hard to say if the fact we had a coupon affected the service ...from my observatio the waiters bit surly generally. We saved about £35 off our bill and got a 30% voucher off food next visit.
On balance I'd say there are much better indian restaurants in York (food and service)
but worth a visit with a voucher
