“Broken Bed Didn't Spoil a Great Trip!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We've just returned from a great 2 night stay at this hotel. We were originally put into room 218 and just after unpacking we discovered that the single bed had a broken leg. A quick visit to the reception saw a very nice lady come up to the room with a toolbox. I helped her turn the bed over which was then when we saw that the leg had had several poor attempts at a repair in the past so a room swap was offered and accepted. The room was spotless, as was the bed lined and towels. A half decent sized TV (for a hotel) was also better than I've encountered in the past.

The staff were extremely pleasant during our stay, the breakfast was the usual excellent Premier Inn quality, the bar served a lovely pint and was really comfortable.

We loved York and will return to this hotel again soon.

I would have given my first 5 star review but for the problem with the bed!

Room Tip: Check the single bed if you're put in room 218!

We have just returned from a weekend in York & stayed at the Blossom St South Inn, the staff (particularly the reception staff) made us most welcome, and the rooms were superb, we really did get a good nights sleep ( as per the ads) and location couldn't be better for visiting attractions in and around the city. We will definitely be returning again soon, and would recommend this to anyone

Room Tip: we stayed in 4 rooms on the 1st floor and all were extremely quiet and roomy

My first stay in a Premier Inn and it came as a bit of a shock after staying in 10 B&B's. The price £80 a night was twice the price of most B&B's - and no breakfast. Despite this the room was large, the bed comfortable and it was very handy to the railway station and a nice walk into the city. Reception (Lauren) was friendly but with only one staff member I'm not sure about the service overall. The hotel boasted 30 minutes of FREE wifi - but I've had UNLIMITED FREE wifi at 10 B&B's and 3 hotels prior to this stay. Had two meals in the restaurant - tasty lamb burger was good, t-bone steak was flavoursome once you got rid of all the gristle. I would have preferred a B&B but couldn't get one this stay so I'd recommend this place as long as you don't mind the price. It's convenient but a bit soulless.

Premier Inn offer a no frills, simple, you know what you're going to get, clean, efficient, everything laid on and hopefully for a budget. No free internet, but it's the middle of the city so the data on your phone will work fine. Restaurant is clean with good food (although there's a lot to offer in York).

My partner and I stayed here for one night while visiting York and I really can't fault it.

The room was big, the bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very clean.

We paid £66 which didn't include wifi and breakfast but at that price we couldn't complain.

The premier inn would be my first choice when returning to York. Also it's only 5 minutes walk (at the very maximum) from the train station.

Very clean, quiet and comfortable. Lacks a bath tub. It is with 15 minute walk to at least a dozen major attractions. There is no advantage to prepaying breakfast as you can buy it for the same price, keeping flexibility in your plans. Staff were very helpful, especially upon arrival helping, getting us oriented to the attractions we had identified to see

Simply brilliant, and i mean that. No fuss check-in and check-out. Had a family quad-room (double and 2 single beds which suited the 4 of us). Room was great. Clean. Suited us fine. Quiet. Lifts broke while we were there but were fixed reasonably quickly...one poor lady in a wheel chair had to be carried down by the smiling staff so no problems there. Breakfast great. We stayed 4 nights and had some great dinners – even our fussy kids found something they enjoyed – restaurant always busy and had to reserve or wait for 30 minutes. 5-6 minutes walk from the train station. Lovely walk in to the city. Very convenient. Even on the stopping-bus tour route (bus stop outside to the right). This South Blossom st Premier Inn is next-door-but-one to North Blossom st Premier Inn (there’s a pub in between),South is bigger and has the restaurant, North is smaller, has the Costa Coffee shop in the hotel (and i think has the hotel car park). Brilliant place for stay!
